2026
The aim of the article is to develop a comprehensive adaptability indicator designed to show how deeply the export-oriented economy responds to external disturbances, how quickly it returns to the growth trajectory, and whether it is capable of transforming crises into opportunities. As such an indicator, the authors propose an adaptability index of the export-oriented development potential of the economy. The proposed methodological approaches for determining the adaptability index of the export-oriented development potential allow evaluating the national economy’s ability to sustain and expand its potential for export-oriented growth in a turbulent external environment typical of the BANI world. To this end, an approach based on measuring the degree of dependence of the national economic system on global trends and its sensitivity to external shocks is used. The proposed methodology employs a comprehensive approach that combines the assessment of the degree of turbulence in the external global environment, the measurement of the internal vulnerability of the national economic system, the sensitivity of its key macroeconomic indicators to external shocks, the capacity to return to a balanced development trajectory after shocks and crises, as well as consideration of the level of economic complexity as a structural precondition for long-term resilience. The logic behind the construction of the index assumes that the adaptability of export-oriented development potential increases with higher economic resilience and greater structural complexity, and decreases with high internal instability and excessive susceptibility to global shocks. The integrated approach proposed by the authors for determining the level of adaptability of export-oriented development potential enables obtaining a comprehensive, quantitatively measurable characterization of the national economy’s ability to adapt, operate, and develop under conditions of constant and increasing instability.

Purpose
The aim of this research is to assess the development potential of oocytes and zygotes obtained from Natural cycle IVF (NC-IVF), different minimal stimulation IVF (Min stim-IVF) and conventionally stimulated IVF (cIVF) treatment protocols.
Methods
International multi-centre retrospective cohort study including 1483 NC-IVF, 1208 Min stim-IVF, and 1892 cIVF cycles performed in 8 IVF centres between 01.2022 and 03.2023. The five Min stim-IVF protocols analysed included low dose clomiphene citrate, aromatase inhibitors, low dose (≤ 100 IU) gonadotropins, each alone or in combination. For each IVF protocol, we assessed and modelled the transition probabilities of (i) each observed oocyte developing into a zygote, (ii) each observed zygote developing into a gestational sac and (iii) each observed zygote developing into a live birth.
Results
All modelled transition probabilities were found to be maximal in NC-IVF, minimal in cIVF with Min stim-IVF in between. The probability of transition from oocyte to zygote was 0.72 for NC-IVF, 0.56 to 0.65 for Min stim-IVF protocols and 0.54 for cIVF. The probability of transition from zygote to gestational sac was 0.21 for NC-IVF, 0.14 to 0.19 for Min stim-IVF and 0.09 for cIVF protocols and from zygote to live birth 0.16 for NC-IVF, 0.09 to 0.16 for Min stim-IVF and 0.06 for cIVF protocols.
Conclusions
The transition probabilities of oocytes and zygotes appears to be higher in NC-IVF, followed by Min stim-IVF and then cIVF, suggesting that increasing dosages of gonadotropins might have a negative effect on oocyte/zygote development potential.

Evaluation and Spatiotemporal Differentiation of Cultural Tourism Development Potential: The Case of the Middle and Lower Reaches of the Yellow River
2023
Cultural tourism development potential (CTDP) is the future value and supporting force of the environmental value, economic and social efficiency, innovation ability and supporting system of cultural tourism. At present, there are few relevant studies on CTDP, but the research results on the tourism development potential of cultural heritage are relatively rich, and the existing evaluation methods lack comprehensiveness, dynamics and visualization. Based on systems theory and sustainable development theory, this article attempts to innovate and collect time series data through the entropy method, multi-index comprehensive evaluation method, spatial kernel density estimation method, and centroid transferring model. The temporal and spatial evolution characteristics and the CTDP of 43 cities in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River are examined and analyzed. It is found that the CTDP in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River is divided into five levels; the overall potential intensity of the research area is small and has significant spatial differences; influenced by the time factor, the interaction and spatial correlation of within the research area are significant; the development of regional cultural tourism has strong regional dependence in the short range. The center of potential gradually moves to the geometric center. This study is significant for promoting the sustainable development of economic tourism in cradles of world civilization.

Research on the Potential and Influencing Factors of Sustainable Development of China’s Marine Fisheries
2026
China is a major global marine fishing country, and exploring the sustainable development potential of its marine fisheries is critical to the global fisheries sector’s Blue Transformation. Based on sustainable development connotations, this study adopts the GM(1,1) model and entropy weight-TOPSIS model to predict and evaluate the marine fisheries’ sustainable development potential from 2021 to 2030, building an evaluation framework spanning economic, social, and resource-environmental dimensions. The results show an overall upward trend in the sustainable development potential during the period, with a notable 2022 trough driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, policy transitions, and complex international conditions. As adverse factors ease and long-term policies advance, the potential will continue to improve steadily. Finally, targeted policy recommendations are proposed, focusing on industrial transformation, technological innovation, resource-environment conservation, and factor guarantee to facilitate the sector’s sustainable development and Blue Transformation.

Evaluation of Underground Space Resources in Ancient Cities from the Perspective of Organic Renewal: A Case Study of Shaoxing Ancient City
2025
China has entered a period of urban renewal, with the focus shifting from large-scale incremental construction to both upgrading existing building quality and adjusting incremental structures. There are three main types of urban renewal: demolition and reconstruction, comprehensive improvement, and organic renewal. The latter systematically optimizes and enhances urban functions, spaces, and culture through gradual renovation methods and is, therefore, suitable for use in ancient cities. To promote organic renewal, the problem of limited space resources must first be addressed, which can be resolved to a certain extent by the moderate development of underground spaces; preliminary evaluations of the development potential are also required. In consideration of the demands of organic renewal, we constructed a novel indicator system for evaluating underground space development potential (USDP) in ancient cities that assesses two dimensions: development demand and development suitability. A multi-factor comprehensive evaluation method was adopted to quantify the indicators of USDP, taking Shaoxing Ancient City (SAC) as the case study. According to the USDP evaluation, SAC can be divided into four kinds of areas: high-potential, general-potential, low-potential, and prohibited development areas. High-potential areas accounted for 16.38% of the total evaluation area and were primarily concentrated in or near key locations: train transit stations (Shaoxing Railway Station), public service facilities, evacuated land, and cultural and tourism facilities around historic districts (Shusheng Guli Historical and Cultural Street). The proposed development strategies for these areas included the interconnection of metro stations, redevelopment of relocation-related and vacated land, construction of underground cultural corridors, and supplementation of parking facilities. For developed underground spaces with low utilization efficiency, functional renewal and management improvement measures were put forward. Our method of evaluating the USDP of ancient cities and the strategies proposed to optimize the utilization of underground space can provide reference examples for SAC and other similar ancient cities.

Coupling and Coordinated Development of Marine High-end Human Resources and Marine Innovation Economic Development Capability
2019
Wei, Y., 2019. Coupling and coordinated development of marine high-end human resources and marine innovation economic development capability. In: Gong, D.; Zhu, H., and Liu, R. (eds.), Selected Topics in Coastal Research: Engineering, Industry, Economy, and Sustainable Development. Journal of Coastal Research, Special Issue No. 94, pp. 605–608. Coconut Creek (Florida), ISSN 0749-0208. The coupling degree model and the coupling coordination degree model are used to measure the degree of coupling and coordination between the two, and the coefficient of variation method is used to analyze regional differences. Through the investigation, the author found that the coupling degree between Hebei Province and Liaoning Province is low, the fluctuation is large, and the regional difference is obvious. The coefficient of variation of the degree of coupling between regions is calculated, the coefficient of variation is gradually reduced, and the difference between regions is significantly reduced. The carrying capacity of marine resources and environment is positively correlated with the potential of marine economic development. The entropy method is used to measure the environmental carrying capacity of marine resources and the potential for economic development in the Bohai Sea. The results show that the coupling degree between marine economic development potential and marine resource environmental carrying capacity in the Bohai Rim region is generally higher than 0.8 and less than 0.8. This space shows the stable coupling and coordination of the coupling degree and coupling coordination degree between Tianjin and Shandong Province.

Groundwater recharge is one of the important factors determining the groundwater development potential of an area. Even though recharge plays a key role in controlling groundwater system dynamics, much uncertainty remains regarding the relationships between groundwater recharge and its governing factors at a large scale. Therefore, this study aims to identify the most influential factors of groundwater recharge, and to develop an empirical model to estimate diffuse rainfall recharge at a global scale. Recharge estimates reported in the literature from various parts of the world (715 sites) were compiled and used in model building and testing exercises. Unlike conventional recharge estimates from water balance, this study used a multimodel inference approach and information theory to explain the relationship between groundwater recharge and influential factors, and to predict groundwater recharge at 0.5∘ resolution. The results show that meteorological factors (precipitation and potential evapotranspiration) and vegetation factors (land use and land cover) had the most predictive power for recharge. According to the model, long-term global average annual recharge (1981–2014) was 134 mm yr−1 with a prediction error ranging from −8 to 10 mm yr−1 for 97.2 % of cases. The recharge estimates presented in this study are unique and more reliable than the existing global groundwater recharge estimates because of the extensive validation carried out using both independent local estimates collated from the literature and national statistics from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). In a water-scarce future driven by increased anthropogenic development, the results from this study will aid in making informed decisions about groundwater potential at a large scale.

Geological Characteristics and Controlling Factors of Deep Shale Gas Enrichment of the Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation in the Southern Sichuan Basin, China
2022
To identify the factors controlling high-quality deep shale gas reservoirs and the exploration and development potential of the Lower Paleozoic marine shale in the Sichuan Basin, the sedimentary environment of deep shale was comprehensively analysed using core thin sections, scanning electron microscopy, gamma ray spectrometry logging, and elemental logging data. In addition, the geological conditions of deep shale gas accumulation and the effect of tectonic processes on the preservation conditions are discussed based on the experimental data of mineral composition analysis, geochemical features, and reservoir spatial characteristics. (1) The sedimentary environment changes from an anoxic water environment to an oxygen-rich oxidizing environment from bottom to top in the Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation in southern Sichuan. The deep shale gas reservoir shows overpressure and rich gas characteristics, namely, high formation pressure (2.0~2.2), high porosity (20%~55%), and high gas content (4.0~5.0 m3/t). (2) The favourable sedimentary environment has a higher hydrocarbon generation potential and deposits of rich organic matter and siliceous particles. During the hydrocarbon generation process, the rich organic matter generates a large number of organic pores and a large specific surface area, which provides the main reservoir and adsorption space for free and adsorbed shale gas. A large number of biogenic siliceous particles provide a solid rock support framework for the shale reservoir, thereby maintaining excellent reservoir physical properties. (3) Late and small stratigraphic uplifts result in a short shale gas escape time and favourable preservation conditions. Additionally, the small-scale faults and a high-angle intersection between the fracture strike and the geostress direction are conducive to the preservation of shale gas. (4) A high formation pressure coefficient, a sedimentary environment rich in organic siliceous deep-water continental shelf microfacies, and a relatively stable tectonic structure are conducive to the accumulation of deep shale gas.
