2022
Digitalization has been identified as one of the major trends changing society and business. Digitalization causes changes for companies due to the adoption of digital technologies in the organization or in the operation environment. This paper discusses digitalization from the viewpoint of diverse case studies carried out to collect data from several companies, and a literature study to complement the data. This paper describes the first version of the digital transformation model, derived from synthesis of these industrial cases, explaining a starting point for a systematic approach to tackle digital transformation. The model is aimed to help companies systematically handle the changes associated with digitalization. The model consists of four main steps, starting with positioning the company in digitalization and defining goals for the company, and then analyzing the company’s current state with respect to digitalization goals. Next, a roadmap for reaching the goals is defined and implemented in the company. These steps are iterative and can be repeated several times. Although company situations vary, these steps will help to systematically approach digitalization and to take the steps necessary to benefit from it.

Revolutionizing education: Artificial intelligence empowered learning in higher education
2024
Global businesses are actively embracing Industry 4.0 and digital transformation. Simultaneously, the education sector is leveraging digital tools to foster personalized learning and equity. Universities transcending borders and students becoming increasingly global have opened new frontiers through the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools in education. Since the role of AI is inevitable in future education, current research aims to identify the level of awareness of faculty members on the applicability and adoption of artificial intelligence. The study also intended to discover how AI enhanced their learning experience and impacted the degree of work engagement of teachers in higher education. A cluster and multi-stage sampling method was employed to select 250 faculty members from QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) ranked institutions operating in hybrid education modes. Utilizing a quantitative research approach and a structural equation model, factors influencing AI adoption in this context were explored. The findings revealed that AI implementation led to the evolution of robust evaluation and assessment methods, resulting in heightened faculty engagement levels. The study identified that perceived risk, performance expectancy, and awareness play significant roles in influencing work engagement and the adoption of AI within the higher education system through mediating variables, specifically attitude, and behavior.

2017
This study explores the concept of big data and whether, and to what extent, it might affect R&D management in the future. Through extensive discussions to dissect the nature of big data and to achieve a common understanding of what it represents, a research framework was constructed to analyze the impact of big data based on its potential to inform, enable, and transform or disrupt R&D management across four dimensions: strategy, people, technology, and process integration. A literature review, interviews with experts, and case studies of organizations using big data demonstrate that this phenomenon will have significant implications for R&D and innovation management, although the nature and extent of that impact is somewhat uneven among different industry sectors.

Post-war Economy of Ukraine: Innovation and Investment Development Project
2022
The article attempts to scientifically search for an answer to the question about the possibilities and prospects of innovative and investment development of the post-war economy of Ukraine, taking into account specific country conditions and trends in the global economy as a whole. The experience of the post-war reconstruction of Germany and Japan, the Marshall Plan, and much later projects for the reconstruction of Iraq and Croatia after regional military conflicts are taken as the basis for the analysis. The problems studied in the article are of particular importance in the absence of conceptual works, both fundamental and reasonably practical, devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the post-war development of Ukraine and ways to revive its economy, which would take into account the changed conditions within the country itself and in the world as a whole.

Auditing in the Metaverse, the “New Reality”
2024
The proposed study expresses some considerations about the digital transition in the accounting profession, especially its metaverse aspects. The main reason for this investigation is the importance of the topic in a world that is constantly changing. When reviewing the literature on this topic, the authors found several studies related to the role and importance of metaverse in the accounting profession. In their analysis, the authors conducted a qualitative study that focusses on the role and importance of the metaverse and its scope in the accounting profession. The results of the research show that although the digital transition is not at the beginning of the road, we must adapt to the new changes, so a professional accountant must also have significant knowledge in the field of IT. Following this study, the authors concluded that the role of the digital transition in the accounting profession is essential to face the new demands on the market and to respond in the shortest possible time to the demands of clients.

Invisible money, visible crime? The emergence of cryptocurrencies in economic crime
Aim: The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between economic crime and cryptocurrencies, particularly with regard to the role that crypto assets can play in the commission of economic crimes and in removing illicitly obtained assets from the authorities' purview. The main hypothesis is that cryptocurrencies can be interpreted not only as a financial innovation, but also as a means of opening up new dimensions in the field of crime. Methodology: The analysis is based on qualitative research methods, drawing on the law enforcement experience of the prosecution office and the findings of a targeted investigation conducted by the Prosecutor General's Office into cryptocurrencies. Findings: The primary finding of the study is that the decentralized, pseudo-anonymous nature of cryptocurrencies can pose significant risks: it can facilitate the spread of economic crime and also affect the structure of economic crimes. The anonymity and easy access characteristic of cryptocurrencies hinder the effective action of law enforcement authorities in detecting and prosecuting perpetrators. Crypto assets are also suitable for withdrawing criminal proceeds from the authorities. Value: The study highlights that, thanks to technological advances and the spread of digitalization, economic criminals now have a wider range of tools at their disposal. White-collar criminals have no particular problem adapting to the changed global circumstances; in fact, they use them to their advantage when committing crimes. The prosecution's experience in applying the law and its investigation into cryptocurrencies can contribute to the development of law enforcement practices.

The evolution of the digital transformation presents new challenges and many new opportunities, and provides unique solutions to individual issues, both for sectors and regions. The challenges posed by the digital world have a significant impact on social and economic processes, as well as our environment. This paper aims to provide an indicator-based understanding of the main characteristics of digitalization promoting sustainable development in the member countries of the Visegrad Cooperation. The main goal of this research is to study the relationship between digitalization transformation and sustainability together. One of the basic indicators of the article is the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI). We examined interconnections between the dimensions of the DESI index and the indicators of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets together in the V4, presented the change, evaluated the selected countries based on these aspects, and set up their ranking. Competitiveness performance data shed light on the situation in Hungary within the V4 countries, pointing out the strengths and shortcomings. The results show the extent of digital performance in each country and the relationship between their digital performance and sustainability indicators.

The digital economy is an alternative to the traditional economy, an area of the future on which investment and RD efforts are focused both by European forums and by Member States, which have understood the importance of the domain with the onset of the pandemic crisis. The aim of the research is to analyze and predict, on the one hand, the impact of digitalisation on EU Member States’ economies by means of the three scenarios for the evolution of the digital component of the economy for the horizon 2025 (the baseline scenario, the high growth scenario and the challenge scenario), and, on the other hand, the Member States’ ability to achieve the targets proposed by these scenarios. The analysis covers the period 2013-2025 and quantifies the dynamics of the digitalisation phenomena and processes based on dedicated statistical analyses (frequency series analysis, application of the unicriterion critical probability test, application of the Enter method, performing Pearson correlation tests) by means of the IBM-SPSS 25 software. The purpose of this research is the provision of relevant solutions to decision makers in the development of digitalisation. The study highlighted the placing of the results in favourable scenarios, the current trend regarding digital economy evolution, and presented the most likely scenario to be achieved in terms of knowing the provider offer and the needs of service users. The topicality of the study targets a new approach on the foundations of financial allocations for the sustainable development of the digital economy needed in the current conditions of the global crisis and of the pandemic for the implementation of digital economy development policies. A novelty of this research is the conceptualization, validation and testing of an econometric model capable of quantifying the realism of the scenarios proposed by the European Union regarding the development of the digital economy.

The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a concept of a policy instrument particularly pushed by policy circles to contribute to a circular economy. The preliminary design of the DPP is supposed to have product-related information compiled mainly by manufactures and, thus, to provide the basis for more circular products. Given the lack of scientific debate on the DPP, this study seeks to work out design options of the DPP and how these options might benefit stakeholders in a product’s value chain. In so doing, we introduce the concept of the DPP and, then, describe the existing regime of regulated and voluntary product information tools focusing on the role of stakeholders. These initial results are reflected in an actor-centered analysis on potential advantages gained through the DPP. Data is generated through desk research and a stakeholder workshop. In particular, by having explored the role the DPP for different actors, we find substantial demand for further research on a variety of issues, for instance, on how to reduce red tape and increase incentives for manufacturers to deliver certain information and on how or through what data collection tool (e.g., database) relevant data can be compiled and how such data is provided to which stakeholder group. We call upon other researchers to close the research gaps explored in this paper also to provide better policy direction on the DPP.

The State and Directions of Development of e-Commerce in Ukraine
2023
The rapid development of information technology changes the business environment around the world. Ukraine is no exception. The formation of the digital economy has become the basis of a new paradigm for the functioning of business entities. The availability of the Internet and the development of information technology, which are the main accelerators of the development of e-commerce, have contributed to a significant demand for online trade (e-commerce) in Ukraine. Nowadays, the number of companies that are switching to online platforms to sell their products is increasing. In Ukraine, online commerce covers a wide range of goods and services, ranging from food and household appliances to clothing, footwear and electronics. The aim of the study is to analyze e-commerce trends in Ukraine and ways of further development in the context of current challenges. The study defines that online commerce in Ukraine is a promising market with great potential for further growth and development. An analysis of the dynamics of the e-commerce market in Ukraine showed that by 2022 Ukraine demonstrated significant success in the e-commerce market. The largest increase of +48% compared to the previous period was observed in 2020 and was connected with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has become an accelerator of digitalization. In 2021, Ukrainian e-commerce market grew significantly – by 27%, compared to a global growth rate of 15%. Despite the fact that the number of purchased goods and services in Ukraine is gradually growing, these figures are still quite low compared to the average for EU countries. In order to determine the priorities of regulatory policy regarding the Ukrainian e-commerce market, based on the SWOT analysis, opportunities for further development and challenges that need to be addressed have been identified. Only with a balanced regulatory policy regarding the e-commerce market and the effective choice of appropriate regulatory levers can economic growth and the level of welfare of the population, the development of the country as a whole, be ensured.
