79 Developing a skills escalator for embedding lived experience across an organisation or system to increase the voice of people in developing a more inclusive and responsive culture for improvement
IntroductionFor more than a decade the Advancing Quality Alliance (Aqua) has co-produced our quality improvement offers with Lived Experience Partners. We recognised the need for simultaneous structured development to both enable lived experience partners to operate in strategic influencing and leadership roles in heath and care, and to continue to enable them to collaborate and coproduce with health and care staff in a more tactical and operational space.People with Lx often feel they are unable to progress beyond volunteering or entry-level work, particularly if there are no role models.Aqua’s approach was to upskill individuals to influence service redesign from operational to strategic levels. By constructing an approach using Lx, they can go beyond a tokenistic stakeholder perspective, where people are ‘invited to speak at board’, but with no impact or integration into the agenda of the organisation.MethodWe have developed career pathways using a skills escalator to help lived experience partners move from to Foundation to Practitioner to Partner levels of practice, and in parallel help health and care staff move from Foundation to Practitioner to Advanced levels of Personalised Care practice, accredited by the Personalised Care Institute.Aqua also developed an impact survey to show the impact of lived experience involvement to organisations. It shines a light on how organisations and individuals engage with lived experience, and measures how well they were involved at different events.Aqua’s lived experience experts have co-designed the lived experience skills escalator and are integral faculty on the delivery teams, and co-deliver on Aqua’s personalised care, safety and improvement programmes for health and care staff to name but a few.ResultsAqua has developed a unique clear, integrated framework to support this approach which supports the NHS Impact improvement agenda and the National Safety agenda.Measuring the impact of Lx contribution is paramount. Sometimes, organisations are not ready for co-production and we observe little interaction between Lx partners and staff. Suitability of Selected Diagnostic Factors for Assessing the Technical Condition of the Working Systems of Bucket Elevators
This article proposes a method for diagnosing the main systems of bucket elevators in order to ensure their reliable operation. This method employs diagnostic indices of vibration velocity and vibration acceleration, which were deemed useful based on tests performed on four bucket elevators operating in a research laboratory and in a power plant. This article also analyzes other indicators, such as the coefficient of variation, skewness, kurtosis, crest factor, and quantile peak factor, and demonstrates the usefulness of kurtosis for diagnostic evaluation. Additionally, it proposes using the quantile peak factor as an alternative to the crest factor. This study estimates the statistical distributions of diagnostic signals and presents the results in the form of histograms. This is followed by the detection of outliers in all measurement series. Based on the results of the performed tests and their analysis, recommendations are made for diagnosing bucket elevators.
Elevator fault diagnosis based on digital twin and PINNs-e-RGCN
The rapid development of urbanization has led to a continuous rise in number of elevators. This has led to elevator failures from time to time. At present, although there are some studies on elevator fault diagnosis, they are more or less limited by the lack of data to make the research more superficial. For such complex special equipment as elevator, it is difficult to obtain reliable and sufficient data to train the fault diagnosis model. To address this issue, this paper first establishes a numerical model of vertical vibration for elevators with three degrees of freedom. The obtained motion equations are then used as constraints to acquire simulated vibration data through PINNs. Next, the proposed e-RGCN is employed for elevator fault diagnosis. Finally, experimental validation shows that the fault diagnosis accuracy with the participation of digital twins exceeds 90%, and the accuracy of the proposed model reaches 96.61%, significantly higher than that of other comparative models.
