The secrets between us : a novel
\"Poor and illiterate, Bhima had faithfully worked for the Dubash family, an upper-middle-class Parsi household, for more than twenty years. Yet after courageously speaking the truth about a heinous crime perpetrated against her own family, the devoted servant was cruelly fired. The sting of that dismissal was made more painful coming from Sera Dubash, the temperamental employer who had long been Bhima's only confidante. A woman who has endured despair and loss with stoicism, Bhima must now find some other way to support herself and her granddaughter, Maya. Bhima's fortunes take an unexpected turn when her path intersects with Parvati, a bitter, taciturn older woman. The two acquaintances soon form a tentative business partnership, selling fruits and vegetables at the local market. As they work together, these two women seemingly bound by fate grow closer, each confessing the truth about their lives and the wounds that haunt them. Discovering her first true friend, Bhima pieces together a new life, and together, the two women learn to stand on their own.\"--Dust jacket flap.
Understanding the Realities of Financial Crime in Public Institutions: Female Public Servants' Insights
This study assessed public female employees’ perceptions of financial crimes in Somali public sector, using a descriptive research. Research on financial crimes, corruption and fraud ware male dominated, so, female offenders, as well as female participation in research, have received less attention. However, recent studies have focused on the intersection of gender and financial crimes. Researchers collected primary data from 64 female employees working in various public organizations and analyzed it using SPSS. Studies based on perception play a key role in connecting actual circumstances with individual experiences. The results indicate that public female employees perceive financial crimes as widespread and complex issues, but also believe that they are both preventable and detectable. The findings of this study align with those of previous research, identifying the elements of the fraud triangle (Pressure, Rationalization, Opportunity) and fraud diamond (Capability) as the key contributors to financial crimes within the Somali public sector. The survey highlights the significant economic and social impacts of financial crimes, including increased government expenditures, budget deficits, impeded socio-economic development, and resource misallocation, as well as the detrimental effects on the private sector and public institutions. The paper suggests several measures to improve financial crime prevention. It recommends strengthening governance, accountability and transparency systems, establishing effective independent oversight bodies, increasing public access to financial information, promoting ethical culture and enforcing ethical codes for public servants, investing in law enforcement capacity, and educing socio-economic disparities to create a more equitable society. This study is the first attempt to assess public female employees’ perception of financial crimes in Somalia. It offers new perspectives on the root causes, and consequences of these bad practices, and sheds light on how these crimes can be prevented, and detected by offering key actionable insights to policymakers.

Effect of Yoga Exercise on Premenstrual Symptoms among Female Employees in Taiwan
Yoga classes designed for women with premenstrual syndrome are available, but their efficacy is unclear. We investigated the effects of 12 weeks’ yoga exercise (yoga intervention) on premenstrual symptoms in menstruating females in Taiwan. Sixty-four subjects completed the yoga intervention, and before and after the intervention filled out a structured self-report questionnaire about their demographics, personal lifestyle, menstrual status, baseline menstrual pain scores, premenstrual symptoms, and health-related quality of life. Of 64 subjects, 90.6% reported experiencing menstrual pain during menstruation. After the yoga intervention, subjects reported decreased use of analgesics during menstruation (p = 0.0290) and decreased moderate or severe effects of menstrual pain on work (p = 0.0011). The yoga exercise intervention was associated with the improvement of the scale of physical function (p = 0.0340) and bodily pain (p = 0.0087) of the SF-36, and significantly decreased abdominal swelling (p = 0.0011), breast tenderness (p = 0.0348), abdominal cramps (p = 0.0016), and cold sweats (p = 0.0143). Menstrual pain mitigation after yoga exercise correlated with improvement in six scales of the SF-36 (physical function, bodily pain, general health perception, vitality/energy, social function, mental health). Employers can educate female employees about the benefits of regular exercise such as yoga, which may decrease premenstrual distress and improve female employee health.
Living the dream : a novel
\"Emma is a rising star at the marketing firm she works at as a \"creative,\" but would have trouble describing what exactly it is she does all day. She pours most of her actual creative energy into a popular blog that all of her friends agree is brilliant, but she has yet to make a cent on it. Clem is a massively talented screenwriter just back from New York, where she picked up a fancy graduate degree in film. But until she convinces an agent to take on her masterpiece script, she's stuck hostessing at the bar she frequented as an undergrad, and the only calls she's getting are about bills past due and overdrawn bank accounts. In their ironclad friendship both girls find a reliable break from the post-collegiate absurdities and indignities that seem to abound in life right at the moment they feel they should finally be getting it all together. With a rotating cast of lovably insufferable friends, from Emma's fabulous DJ and ladies' man roommate to Clem's painfully ordinary and predictable childhood chum, the girls wind their way through the twists and turns of aging parents and terrible bosses and regrettable one night stands, unforeseen setbacks and blessings that present as anything but, and remind each other that while their ships might not have come in yet, the after work drinks are cold and the company can't be beat\"-- Provided by publisher.

Sweet poison: how benevolent sexism hinders Chinese female employees’ career growth
As societal civility and education levels improve, the social status of females continues to rise, and the topic of gender equality has received increasing attention. However, female employees’ career growth is likely to be hindered by benevolent sexism. Therefore, actively exploring the mechanisms through which benevolent sexism affects female employees’ career growth is one of the urgent issues in the field of human resource management. This study employed Mplus 8.0 to analyze the data from 496 questionnaires, and the following findings were obtained: (1) Benevolent sexism has a negative correlation with the career growth of female employees. (2) Organization-based self-esteem mediates the relationship between benevolent sexism and female employees’ career growth. Specifically, benevolent sexism has a negative correlation with organization-based self-esteem, while organization-based self-esteem has a positive correlation with female employees’ career growth. (3) Career compromise mediates the relationship between benevolent sexism and female employees’ career growth. Specifically, benevolent sexism has a positive correlation with career compromise, and career compromise has a negative correlation with female employees’ career growth. (4) Personal tradition moderates the relationship between benevolent sexism and female employees’ career growth. More specifically, when employees have a stronger sense of personal tradition, the negative correlation between benevolent sexism and career growth becomes even more pronounced. The relevant findings not only enrich the theoretical system of human resource management but also provide useful references for various organizations to enhance the effectiveness of human resource utilization and promote the career growth of female employees.
