Affront to electorate
The 'ennobling' of defeated MPs of any party is an affront to the electorate and a travesty of democracy.
Former MP is banned from roads
Now Baron Forsyth of Drumlean, Forsyth (58) who lives at Lochard Road, Aberfoyle, was clocked driving his Pounds 70,000 Range Rover at 76mph in a 60 limit on the single carriageway Perth-Stirling road close to the House of Bruar retail outlet, at Blair Atholl, at 11pm on June 7. He already has nine penalty points on his licence from three previous motoring offences.
Highland Show puts Stirling in spotlight
Former Stirling MP and Scots Secretary Michael Forsyth, Baron Forsyth of Drumlean, has been appointed president of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS). Taking up his position in July, Lord Forsyth will preside over the 175th Royal Highland Show in 2015, with Stirling the host area.
Reply: Letter: Scottish independence: the thorn and the thistle
Most Scots will never forget, still less forgive, the eagerness with which the uber-Thatcherite [Michael Forsyth] offered up his homeland as a testing ground for the most vindictive Tory policies, in the absence of any political mandate. It's why he and his ilk find they have just one Scots Tory MP. Our support for Britain owes nothing to a past bedecked in union flags, the bemoaning of a lost empire or the echoes of \"Hang Mandela\".
Nats lay Forsyth trap for Labour
\"At this stage, the effective leader of the 'No' campaign is [Michael Forsyth]. That is who Labour are lining up behind - the man who scaremongered against a Scottish parliament in the 1990s and lost every single Tory seat in Scotland.\"

Forsyth's war on Scots tax plans
He said: 'When the [Bill] comes before the Lords, I will table an amendment that requires them to have a referendum on the tax-raising powers. I think if you are going to do something like that, those in favour have to put their case.' He added: 'This is being pushed by a handful of MSPs who don't even have the support of their back-benches in some cases. 'That is a huge extension, and if it was right for the modest tax-raising powers to be put to a referendum, then it must be right that there is a referendum on these powers as well.' Lord [Michael Forsyth] also repeated his support for the Scottish Daily Mail's campaign to call Alex Salmond's bluff on an independence referendum, warning that the SNP will benefit from the political fallout created by the tax plans. He said: 'Politically, I think they are creating an opportunity for the SNP. 'You can't play golf with just one club. You need to set corporation tax and others. But that is called independence and it is surprising that the Unionist parties are going down that road.' The Scotland Bill will give Holyrood a 10p share of all income tax raised north of the Border.
