Scientific globalism during a global crisis
This study sought to understand the nature of scientific globalism during a global crisis, particularly COVID-19. Findings show that scientific globalism occurs differently when comparing COVID-19 publications with non-COVID-19 publications during as well as before the pandemic. Despite the tense geopolitical climate, countries increased their proportion of international collaboration and open-access publications during the pandemic. However, not all countries engaged more globally. Countries that have been more impacted by the crisis and those with relatively lower GDPs tended to participate more in scientific globalism than their counterparts.

Investor attention and cryptocurrency: Evidence from the Bitcoin market
This paper adds to the growing literature of cryptocurrency and behavioral finance. Specifically, we investigate the relationships between the novel investor attention and financial characteristics of Bitcoin, i.e., return and realized volatility, which are the two most important characteristics of one certain asset. Our empirical results show supports in the behavior finance area and argue that investor attention is the granger cause to changes in Bitcoin market both in return and realized volatility. Moreover, we make in-depth investigations by exploring the linear and non-linear connections of investor attention on Bitcoin. The results indeed demonstrate that investor attention shows sophisticated impacts on return and realized volatility of Bitcoin. Furthermore, we conduct one basic and several long horizons out-of-sample forecasts to explore the predictive ability of investor attention. The results show that compared with the traditional historical average benchmark model in forecasting technologies, investor attention improves prediction accuracy in Bitcoin return. Finally, we build economic portfolios based on investor attention and argue that investor attention can further generate significant economic values. To sum up, investor attention is a non-negligible pricing factor for Bitcoin asset.

Scripts of blackness : race, cultural nationalism, and U.S. colonialism in Puerto Rico
\"The geopolitical influence of the United States informs the processes of racialization in Puerto Rico, including the construction of black places. In Scripts of Blackness, Isar P. Godreau explores how Puerto Rican national discourses about race--created to overcome U.S. colonial power--simultaneously privilege whiteness, typecast blackness, and silence charges of racism. Based on an ethnographic study of the barrio of San Antâon in the city of Ponce, Scripts of Blackness examines institutional and local representations of blackness as developing from a power-laden process that is inherently selective and political, not neutral or natural. Godreau traces the presumed benevolence or triviality of slavery in Puerto Rico, the favoring of a Spanish colonial whiteness (under a Hispanophile discourse), and the insistence on a harmonious race mixture as discourses that thrive on a presumed contrast with the United States that also characterize Puerto Rico as morally superior. In so doing, she outlines the debates, social hierarchies, and colonial discourses that inform the racialization of San Antâon and its residents as black. A Contemporary Geopolitical Delineation of Niger Delta Communities: Identity in Coastal Nigeria
This study explores what constitutes a Niger Delta Community and differentiates communities from other forms of geopolitical entities and groups. Previous studies treat geopolitical entities denoted as communities as villages, towns, and ethnicities. This study proposes that they be defined by geopolitical factors that go beyond these terms. A qualitative research method through fifty semistructured interviews is applied in obtaining and analyzing evidence from Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers states in the Niger Delta, Nigeria, to evaluate key arguments supporting this claim. It was discovered that the political and geographical subdivisions of postcolonial local government areas and, in some cases, the traditional and geographical sections of precolonial clans or kingdoms define contemporary Niger Delta communities. These determinations emphasize the factors that delineate such a community from gray terms used as its denotation. This article clarifies the definitional characteristics of these communities that help distinguish their municipal status from typical villages, towns, or ethnicities in the region.
