Cryptic concrete : a subterranean journey into Cold War Germany
Cryptic Concrete explores bunkered sites in Cold War Germany in order to understand the inner workings of the Cold War state. * A scholarly work that suggests a reassessment of the history of geo- and bio-politics * Attempts to understand the material architecture that was designed to protect and take life in nuclear war * Zooms in on two types of structures - the nuclear bunker and the atomic missile silo * Analyzes a broad range of sources through the lens of critical theory and argues for an appreciation of the two subterranean structures' complementary nature
Integrated Guidance and Control for Hypersonic Morphing Missile Based on Variable Span Auxiliary Control
The morphing aircraft can improve the flight performance of hypersonic vehicles by satisfying the flight requirements of large airspace and large velocity field. In this paper, for the hypersonic variable span missile, the dynamic model and aerodynamic model are established on the variable span characteristic. The adaptive dynamic surface control back-stepping method is used to establish the integrated guidance and control (IGC) with terminal angular constraint in the dive phase of the hypersonic variable span missile. The span variety is used to assist the lift control to achieve fast and stable control for the centroid motion. The simulation results demonstrate that the feasibility and robustness of the IGC method of the hypersonic variable span missile is better than the invariable span.
Position Deployment Optimization of Maneuvering Conventional Missile Based on Improved Whale Optimization Algorithm
To reasonably allocate mobile conventional missile battle positions and improve the survivability and combat effectiveness of the missile weapon system, a missile position deployment optimization design model based on Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) is established. First, for the multilevel position network, an optimization model with the goal of maximizing the viability is established, and a two-stage solution method is proposed. Second, the whale optimization algorithm (WOA) is improved, and the convergence factor which changes nonlinearly with the number of evolution is introduced to coordinate the local development and global search ability of the algorithm. The diversity mutation operation is carried out on the optimal individual to reduce the probability of premature convergence of the algorithm, and the improved whale algorithm is used to solve the optimization model. Finally, the performance of the improved algorithm is verified by example analysis and simulation experiments, which provides a reference for the deployment mode of mobile missile positions.
Integrated Guidance and Control of Interceptor Missile Based on Asymmetric Barrier Lyapunov Function
In this study, a novel integrated guidance and control (IGC) algorithm based on an IGC method and the asymmetric barrier Lyapunov function is designed; this algorithm is designed for the interceptor missile which uses a direct-force/aerodynamic-force control scheme. First, by considering the coupling between the pitch and the yaw channels of the interceptor missile, an IGC model of these channels is established, and a time-varying gain extended state observer (TVGESO) is designed to estimate unknown interferences in the model. Second, by considering the system output constraint problem, an asymmetric barrier Lyapunov function and a dynamic surface sliding-mode control method are employed to design the control law of the pitch and yaw channels to obtain the desired control moments. Finally, in light of redundancy in such actuators as aerodynamic rudders and jet devices, a dynamic control allocation algorithm is designed to assign the desired control moments to the actuators. Moreover, the results of simulations show that the IGC algorithm based on the asymmetric barrier Lyapunov function for the interceptor missile allows the outputs to meet the constraints and improves the stability of the control system of the interceptor missile.
Autopilot Design Method for the Blended Missile Based on Model Predictive Control
This paper develops a novel autopilot design method for blended missiles with aerodynamic control surfaces and lateral jets. Firstly, the nonlinear model of blended missiles is reduced into a piecewise affine (PWA) model according to the aerodynamics properties. Secondly, based on the equivalence between the PWA model and mixed logical dynamical (MLD) model, the MLD model of blended missiles is proposed taking into account the on-off constraints of lateral pulse jets. Thirdly, a hybrid model predictive control (MPC) method is employed to design autopilot. Finally, simulation results under different conditions are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method, which demonstrate that control allocation between aerodynamic control surfaces and lateral jets is realized by adjusting the weighting matrix in an index function.
Newsom Closer To Undercutting Trump In High Stakes Election Fight; Russia Strikes U.S.-Owned Company In One Of Largest Attacks On Ukraine; Satellite Images Reveal Secret Missile Base In North Korea. Aired 7-8p ET
Governor Gavin Newsom of California taking on Trump; the state now on track to add more Democratic seats, just as Texas is about to do for the GOP. Putin mocking Trump, striking a U.S. company in Ukraine; the attack was part of one of Russia's largest on Ukraine since the start of the war. New satellite images reveal a secret North Korean missile base that has the potential to hit cities across the United States. So how much help is Kim getting from Putin on this? Autos Are On Hold For Now; Newsom Signs California Redistricting Plan To Counter Texas Republicans; 21 Countries Condemn Israel's Plan for New Settlements; British Government Agrees to Pay Compensation for Blaze; North Korea's Secret Missile Base Could Threaten U.S. Aired 1-2a ET
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he will give final approval for the seizure of Gaza City while also restarting negotiations with Hamas aimed at returning all the remaining captives. Netanyahu tells soldiers he has approved takeover plan as aid groups advised to prepare for forced displacement. Russia carries out its biggest attack in more than a month while accusing Ukraine of not being interested in peace. Kim Jong-un has hailed North Korean troops fighting alongside Russia in the war in Ukraine as \"heroes\", at a ceremony to honour soldiers who recently returned from the conflict. The lower tariffs on cars imported from the E.U. will have to wait, at least for now. federal judge issued a preliminary injunction Thursday halting further expansion and ordering the winding down of an immigration detention center. Erik Menendez was denied parole after making his bid for freedom before California's parole board. Democrats aim to counter Texas GOP bill flipping five Democratic seats to Republican control in US Congress. 21 countries, including the U.K., France, Canada -- they've all condemned Israel's plan to build new settlements in the Occupied West Bank. They're calling it a violation of international law. And the British government, it has agreed to pay a compensation after its troops sparked a huge forest fire while training in Kenya. But locals there say that it's not enough to deal with the aftermath of an ecological disaster that continues to affect them to this day. North Korea has spent several years ramping up its military capabilities, modernizing its armed forces, developing new weapons, and testing missiles capable of reaching the United States. The missile next door : the Minuteman in the American heartland
In the 1960s the Air Force buried 1,000 ICBMs in pastures across the Great Plains to keep U.S. nuclear strategy out of view. As rural civilians of all political stripes found themselves living in the Soviet crosshairs, a proud Plains individualism gave way to an economic dependence on the military-industrial complex that still persists today.
