Upland hospital almost ready to open new tower
The expansion, which has been in the works for 15 years, fulfills state requirements for seismic retrofitting and \"the need and desire to provide an enhanced healing environment,\" Harris F. Koenig, San Antonio Regional Hospital president and CEO, said during a recent tour of the new facility. The hospital's emergency department, which opened in the 1970s, was designed for 30,000 annual patient visits. But recently, the hospital's patient visitations have exceeded 80,000 annually, Koenig said. With the expansion, the number of intensive care unit beds increases from 24 to 36 and adds 32 beds with heart monitor capabilities for people who are \"not sick enough for continuous bedside nursing\" but need their heart to be monitored at all times, Koenig said.
From a Tiny USB Flash Drive Carried on a Keyring, EMS and Other Healthcare Providers Can Now Have Quick Access to a Patient's Emergency HealthCare Data, Including Pictures
[Harris F. Rogers] added, \"What makes this product unique is the product's ability to export a user's identity and medical data (prescriptions, immunizations, allergies, surgical history, medical conditions, etc.) to a USB Flash Drive that can then be carried by the user at all times. In an emergency, EMS and healthcare workers registered with PathWay Technology as JIC Providers can then use their side of the software to read the vital data directly from the USB, saving valuable time and possibly the user's life. For privacy, the user is the one that selects the medical and identity data they want to export and share.\"
