Bredon WI members enjoyed a 'posh frocks' evening this week, enhanced by strawberries and cream, washed down with a sparkling wine. A quiz was set for the amusement of all, and one of Margo's picture competitions proved popular too.

An ominously anonymous letter came to me through the post this week from someone in Bredon's Norton, once again with complaints about dog owners and the lack of response from the Wychavon Dog Warden. Also problems of bonfire smoke and lack of car parking facilities were outlined. It would be a relief to hear that a community had grasped the nettle and solved some of these repetitive problems by face-to-face discussion, or at least had approached their local councillors to air the subjects. What about attending the annual parish meeting, a natural forum?

2009
According to the legend that now surrounds Kettlewell's research, the phenomenon of industrial melanism attracted widespread interest among academics, who seized upon it as an example of natural selection taking place before their eyes. [...] perhaps not surprisingly, the legend surrounding Kettlewell's research is fundamentally misleading with respect to its depiction of science as a process.
