Il prototipo dimenticato. Square Jasmin di Hector Guimard tra sperimentazione costruttiva e mancate strategie di patrimonializzazione
In Paris’s 16th arrondissement, Hector Guimard – best known for his Art Nouveau works—built in 1922 his only prototype of a prefabricated housing system: the hôtel particulier at Square Jasmin. The result of sustained research on standardization, construction economy, and industrialized building, the house represents a mature synthesis of aesthetics, technique, and function, positioning Guimard as an interpreter of an ‘alternative modernity’. Despite its exceptional historical and design value – documented by 13 patents and extensive graphic material – the building is today in severe disrepair, lacking formal heritage protection and largely unknown to the public. This study questions the reasons for its exclusion from recognized heritage, highlighting the fragile transmission of value in experimental works. The critical analysis of Square Jasmin sheds light on the limits of current heritage practices, particularly regarding early 20th-century architectures that escape canonical definitions of ‘modern’, and calls for new criteria and tools to acknowledge their technical, historical, and symbolic complexity.  
Mapping System Autonomous Electric Vehicle Based on Lidar-Sensor Using Hector SLAM Algorithm
Autonomous electric vehicles (EVs) need to recognize the surrounding environment through mapping. The mapping provides directions for driving in new locations and uncharted areas. However, few studies have discussed the mapping of unknown outdoor areas using light detection and ranging (LiDAR) with simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). LiDAR can reduce the limitations of GPS, which cannot track the current location, and it covers a limited area. Hence, this study used the Hector SLAM algorithm, which maps based on the data generated by LiDAR sensors. This study was conducted at the Universitas Sriwijaya using two routes: the Palembang and Inderalaya campuses. A comparison is made with the map on Google Maps to determine the accuracy of the algorithm. The route of the Palembang campus was divided into four points: A-B-C-D; route AB exhibits the highest accuracy of 85.7%. In contrast, the route of the Inderalaya campus was established by adding routes with buildings closer to the road. A marker point was allocated on the route: A-B-C-D-E; route CE exhibits the highest accuracy of 83.6%. Overall, this study shows that the Hector SLAM algorithm and LiDAR can be used to map the unknown environment of autonomous EVs.
The other worlds of Hector Berlioz : travels with the orchestra
\"Berlioz frequently explored other worlds in his writings, from the imagined exotic enchantments of New Zealand to the rings of Saturn where Beethoven's spirit was said to reside. The settings for his musical works are more conservative, and his adventurousness has instead been located in his mastery of the orchestra, as both orchestrator and conductor. Inge van Rij's book takes a new approach to Berlioz's treatment of the orchestra by exploring the relationship between these two forms of control - the orchestra as abstract sound, and the orchestra as collective labour and instrumental technology. Van Rij reveals that the negotiation between worlds characteristic of Berlioz's writings also plays out in his music: orchestral technology may be concealed or ostentatiously displayed; musical instruments might be industrialised or exoticised; and the orchestral musicians themselves move between being a society of distinctive individuals and being a machine played by Berlioz himself\"-- Provided by publisher.
2D SLAM Algorithms Characterization, Calibration, and Comparison Considering Pose Error, Map Accuracy as Well as CPU and Memory Usage
The present work proposes a method to characterize, calibrate, and compare, any 2D SLAM algorithm, providing strong statistical evidence, based on descriptive and inferential statistics to bring confidence levels about overall behavior of the algorithms and their comparisons. This work focuses on characterize, calibrate, and compare Cartographer, Gmapping, HECTOR-SLAM, KARTO-SLAM, and RTAB-Map SLAM algorithms. There were four metrics in place: pose error, map accuracy, CPU usage, and memory usage; from these four metrics, to characterize them, Plackett–Burman and factorial experiments were performed, and enhancement after characterization and calibration was granted using hypothesis tests, in addition to the central limit theorem.
