In the second incident, on July 20, Deputy Tony Bise went to the home to give Hetrick an order showing that money had been removed from his bank account for the care of his wife at an assisted living home, [Al Kisner] said. A neighbor said Hetrick's wife suffers from Alzheimer's disease.

Sheriff's deputies had responded to the home at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday because [Darrel K. Hetrick] had violated a domestic violence protection order filed against him by his wife, toward whom he had been violent in the past, [Kisner] said. No one else was present during the incident. He also wouldn't say what part of Hetrick's body was hit, and whether one of both deputies present shot Hetrick. \"We're working with the prosecutor's office,\" he said. \"They're not wanting a whole lot of information released at this point.\"
