Cruise In
The Cruise In has exceeded its organizers' expectations every year, doubling in size for the last three years. Last year, about 100,000 people showed up, and organizer Tim Hickey said even if it pours rain Saturday, the show will be a success. The Cruise In has managed to grow exponentially despite a small organizing committee of six who work this year with just 140 volunteers. Hickey, a Langley City building inspector, said the support of city council has helped the show. Hickey said plans for Cruise In North America have not been finalized. The show is expected to pay for itself and make a profit for three local charities. The Langley Memorial Hospital, Langley Hospice Society and Alzheimer's research will share any profits generated by the event.

The pair have been virtually inseparable since Hickey discovered the bird, which he believes to be a conure - a small but colourful member of the parrot family.

Severna Park: Image upgrade
His look blends in nicely with the freshly painted walls, glossy laminate floors, cameras, equipment and accessories lining the walls. The newly updated and expanded state-of-the-art photography shop doubled in size, from 2,000 to 4,000 square feet, with the customer's comfort zone one of Mr. Hickey's top priorities. To keep pace with the new technology, Mr. Hickey added two more digital photography workstations decked-out with executive chairs for customers to take a hands-on-personal approach to their digital photo processing. The kiosks are situated in the front of the store, flanked by two La-Z-Boy recliners for spouses or friends to relax in while waiting. Mr. Hickey's ownership of the shop comes full-circle. His parents Dermott and Lou Ann Hickey originally owned Annapolis Photo in West Annapolis. They sold it in 1996 to Mr. [Tom Alban] and Mr. [Wayne Gaver]. Mr. Hickey worked for them in their Severna Park location as a counter clerk and his mother stayed on in Annapolis running the processing lab.
