The Silent Voice of Guillermo Cabrera Infante in Exorcismos de estio
Exorcismos de esti(l)o is one of Guillermo Cabrera Infante's least studied books. It is nevertheless of essential importance for understanding the entirety of his poetics. It is a book that condenses the pain of the ostracism and the betrayal inflicted by the revolutionary regime that Cabrera had so strongly supported. The purpose of this article is to highlight the implicit elements of the text that support this hypothesis. It considers the strategies used by the author throughout Exorcismos de esti(l)o to practice the language with which he obsessively tries to draw, in his novelas del yo, a portrait of a lost and unrecoverable Havana, the hopeful Havana preceding the Cuban Revolution. It is an impossible yet obstinate mission. This is why the texts that articulate the impossibility of representation and the anguish that this mission generates deserve special attention.
Manuscript Diversity, Meaning, and Variance in Juan Manuel's El Conde Lucanor
Juan Manuel'sEl Conde Lucanorwas arguably one of the great masterworks of early modern Spain. Although the work appears in five very different manuscript versions from the fourteenth to the sixteenth centuries, most modern editions of El Conde Lucanor have neglected to account for the fact that it was part of a manuscript tradition, and that its meaning is substantially affected when its original forms are not taken in to account. WithManuscript Diversity, Meaning, and Variance in Juan Manuel's El Conde Lucanor, Laurence de Looze demonstrates how the meaning of Juan Manuel's work changes depending on how the work is 'performed' in particular manuscripts. This study proceeds from the assumption that, in a pre-printing press world, each new copy or 'performance' of a work creates new meaning. By adopting this approach and by focusing on Parts II-V of the texts, de Looze argues thatEl Conde Lucanorraises questions about the interretation, intelligibility, and the production of knowledge. De Looze's complex and nuanced reading sheds new light on an important work and makes a significant contribution to medieval studies, Spanish studies, and the history of the book.
Infante-webb spectrum of nonlinear 3 × 3 upper triangular block operator matrices
The paper examines the Infante-Webb spectrum within the framework of nonlinear block operator matrices, focusing on the relationship between the spectra of 3 × 3 matrices and their constituent components. The focus of the study is on the Infante-Webb spectrum of 3 × 3 nonlinear block operator matrices. This study establishes the connection between the Infante-Webb spectrum of specific 3 × 3 nonlinear block operator matrices and the spectrum of their individual entries.
Optical soliton solutions to the ( 2 + 1 ) \\((2+1)\\) -dimensional Chaffee–Infante equation and the dimensionless form of the Zakharov equation
The (2+1)\\((2+1)\\)-dimensional Chaffee–Infante equation and the dimensionless form of the Zakharov equation have widespread scopes of function in science and engineering fields, such as in nonlinear fiber optics, the waves of electromagnetic field, plasma physics, the signal processing through optical fibers, fluid dynamics, coastal engineering and remarkable to model of the ion-acoustic waves in plasma, the sound waves. In this article, the first integral method has been assigned to search closed form solitary wave solutions to the previously proposed nonlinear evolution equations (NLEEs). We have constructed abundant soliton solutions and discussed the physical significance of the obtained solutions of its definite values of the included parameters through depicting figures and interpreted the physical phenomena. It has been shown that the first integral method is powerful, convenient, straightforward and provides further general wave solutions to diverse NLEEs in mathematical physics.
Uncovering the stochastic dynamics of solitons of the Chaffee–Infante equation
In this paper, we apply stochastic differential equations with the Wiener process to investigate the soliton solutions of the Chaffee–Infante (CI) equation. The CI equation, a fundamental model in mathematical physics, explains concepts such as wave propagation and diffusion processes. Exact soliton solutions are obtained through the application of the modified extended tanh (MET) method. The obtained wave figures in 3D, 2D, and contour are highly localized and determine an individual frequency shift under the behavior of sharp peak, periodic wave, and singular soliton. The MET method shows to be a valuable analytical tool for obtaining soliton solutions, essential for understanding the dynamics of nonlinear wave phenomena. Numerical simulations enable us to explore soliton solutions in two and three dimensions, shedding light on their properties over time. Our results have wide applications in various domains, including stochastic processes and nonlinear dynamics, impacting advancements in physics, engineering, finance, biology, and beyond.
Las otras memorias de Gio Infante: repensar la homotransfobia y la violencia política en el Perú contemporáneo
Queer activist Gio Infante was one of the most lucid voices of the Peruvian social movements. At the age of 31, Infante’s early death stopped a political and intellectual becoming that deserves to be revisited. Cultivating Gio Infante’s memories is an effort to dispute the problematic desires for social normalization of some LGBTQ subjects and, more importantly, to dare to imagine queer horizons in which their lives are not socially and materially determined by violence. This article offers a close reading of Infante’s essay, “The Other Memories: Persecution, Torture, and Death of Homosexuals During the Internal Armed Conflict” (“Las otras memorias: persecución, tortura y muerte de homosexuales durante el conflicto armado interno”), published in 2013. Infante invites us to nurture painful and subversive memories that allow us to glimpse political and affective anti-racist, feminist and queer coalitions. For Infante, the material conditions for imagining a queer peace do not yet exist in the present. Instead, Infante mobilizes the other memories as an analytic that allows him to open the past’s virtualities, to try to repair political violence’s anonymizing effect. In opposition to homonormative articulations and right-wing political consensuses, Infante tirelessly argues for the need to think critically about the material conditions of production, reproduction, and reification of homotransphobia in the present.
I d. AbstractThis work analyzes three new Roman funerary inscriptions from the area of Lara de los Infantes. In two of them there is an expression of personal identification through a double idionym, something characteristic of the Valley of the Duero, very common in the epigraphy of this area and something that allows to date them in the s. I d. C. The third inscription is an interesting fragment that offers a new verification of Reburrus, Hispanic anthroponym sparsely represented in the area of Lara de los Infantes. They are three new remains, altogether, coming from a zone so enormously rich in epigraphic findings as traditionally lacking in interventions that explain that.
Generalized equations with a given soliton type solution. The example of the Chafee-Infante model
The paper proposes a procedure for extending a nonlinear ordinary differential equation (NODE) to other equivalent equations, in the sense that they accept a certain predefined solution, specific to the initially considered equation. We look for such extensions in the class of reaction-diffusion equations, second-order NODEs with polynomial coefficients. The Chafee-Infante (CI) equation is chosen as a specific representative of this class and various generalized CI equations with higher-order nonlinear coefficients are highlighted. The predefined solution that had to be satisfied by both the standard CI equation and its extensions was chosen as a first-order polynomial in the solutions of the generalized Riccati equation. The procedure we propose provides a criterion to establish ab initio whether a given equation can be solved using Riccati as an auxiliary equation. It can also be useful in defining classes of equivalent equations in terms of the solutions they accept.
