Accounting Information System (AIS)
2023
In light of the function of Internal Auditing and its significance in assessing and ensuring the validity of data, information, reports, and high lists generated by the Accounting Information System and improving its credibility and dependability, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Internal Auditing (IA) and Accounting Information System (AIS) in Jordanian banks, with a focus on the mediator role of Organizational Commitment (OC). A cross-sectional survey method was used to collect data from a sample of employees who work in banks, including those who work in the internal audit department. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and PROCESS V4.1. The study sample includes 193 employees who work in banks, including those who work in the internal audit department. Descriptive statistical methods, such as frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations, were employed to depict both the characteristics of the sample and the participants’ responses to the study items. The results indicate that IA has a positive relationship with AIS. Moreover, the results indicate that OC partially mediates the relationship between IA and AIS in Jordanian banks.

Internal audit techniques for testing laboratories: ISO/IEC 17025:2017 perspective
2024
Internal auditing is an important part of the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard. Clause 8.8 of the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard describes the requirements that the testing and calibration laboratories need to follow in the area of internal auditing. However, the standard does not describe which technique to use when conducting internal audits and the ISO 19011:2018 standard (Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems) only mentions the audit methods that can be used by an auditor, lacking practical aspects. Based on the internal auditing technique used, non-conformities that are present may or may not be detected. For example, technical competency of an analyst cannot be completely ascertained by just thoroughly reviewing the related documents such as training records. Therefore, it is important that internal auditors utilize appropriate techniques during an internal audit for it to be an effective one. Different internal auditors use different techniques during the audit. The commonest way internal auditors use is to develop a checklist (usually the one used by the accreditation body to which the laboratory is affiliated) for auditing the compliance to the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 management system and witnessing the technical competence of the technical staff. The aim of this article is to share the techniques utilized by the author during the internal auditing of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited testing laboratories.

Study on the auditing theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics
2015
A comprehensive guide to China's public, private, and internal audit system Study on the Auditing Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics provides a comprehensive overview of China's auditing practices. Recent years have seen the National Audit Office of China (CNAO) making remarkable headway not only in China by guaranteeing the healthy operation of the economy and society and improving national governance through government auditing, but also in the international arena by carrying out audits with the United Nations. With constant development in the practice, an audit theory with socialist Chinese characteristics has taken shape, centering on the premise that government auditing serves as the cornerstone and safeguard of national governance. At the XXI INCOSAI held in 2013 in Beijing, the theme of \"national audit and national governance\" proposed and chaired by CNAO, was met with widespread approval by participants from over 160 countries, and led to the endorsement of the Beijing Declaration, which makes it a priority and target for audit institutions to promote good national governance. To explore the nature and development of government auditing, this book probes into the history and reality, and theories and practices of auditing in various countries, and puts forward the assertion that, \"as a cornerstone and important safeguard for national governance, government auditing is an 'immune system' endogenous within the synthetical system of national governance, with functions of precaution, revelation and defense.\" Furthermore, China's socialist auditing theory has been elaborated in nine aspects, nature, functions, goals, features, methods, management, framework of regulations and standards, IT application and culture, covering the new concepts, methodologies, techniques and achievements of China's government auditing. This book is highly relevant, practical, and readable. Jiayi Liu, the chief author, is the Auditor General of China and the current Chairman of INTOSAI Governing Board. In 2013 he won the United Nations Peace Prize in recognition of his auditing work for UN peacekeeping operations.
The Institutional Theory on the Internal Audit Effectiveness: The Case of India
2022
The necessity and importance of internal auditing in the Indian listed companies is increasing because of the strengthening of corporate governance practices by regulatory bodies, and the Indian market environment is becoming more competitive. This study attempted to determine some of the critical factors that affect the effectiveness of internal auditing in Indian listed companies. To this end, a sample of 252 Nifty companies was recruited. We mailed questionnaires to the Head of Internal Audit Department, Chief of Accounts, and Chief Executive Officers of the companies. The overall response rate was 29.4%. Companies represented manufacturing, information technology, retail, banking, and financial services. The results of multiple regression analysis revealed that the factors affecting the effectiveness of internal auditing are the competency of internal audit staff and the interaction of internal auditing with audit committee. The study came to the conclusion that institutional theory best explains the effectiveness of internal auditing in Indian context. It thus encourages auditing professionals to develop their core competencies for delivering their services efficiently, and informs them that the continuous interaction with audit committee members will help them to be focused on the organizational performance by improving the IA effectiveness. At the end, the theoretical and practical implications of the study along with the directions for the future research are provided.

Enterprise resource planning, corporate governance and internal auditing : an institutional perspective
This book investigates how corporate governance is directing the internal audit function (IAF) adaptation as a response to enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. To date, there is insufficient knowledge about the adaptations of the IAF, which are required if it is to maintain its essential role as a governance mechanism. This book extends the reader's knowledge by exploring and theorising the adaptation of the IAF after ERP introduction and points towards future trends. Adopting an institutional approach, it analyses how the IAF responds to the external governance pressures and the internal pressures of the control logic following the introduction of an ERP system. Featuring data from two listed companies in the food and beverage sector and two large banks operating in Egypt, this volume will be of interest to researchers and academics in the field of financing and ERP systems in particular.
