The evolution of international logistics in the era of globalisation: opportunities and challenges for business operations
2025
The state of international logistics is closely related to political, economic, and technological changes that take place in the context of dynamic technological development, military threats, and, at the same time, integration of countries in search of partners. The article aims to highlight the main aspects and features of the international logistic development in the globalization context. The methodology included general scientific methods of studying the chosen research object (analysis, synthesis, grouping). The logistics productivity index is considered the leading indicator of the global logistics sector developmet in 2018-2023. The study’s results demonstrate the dependence of logistics development on several factors. In the leading countries, according to the Logistics Performance Index, the drivers of change are investments in infrastructure, transport networks, IT communications, technology, digital networks, logistics centres and hubs; logistics education and competence; government support and incentives for the sector; and a stable political and economic environment that fosters investment and innovation. The article highlights the main aspects and features of the international logistics development in globalization condition. The practical value ofthe study lies in highlighting the challenges faced by the logistics sector on a global scale in the context of technological shifts and military threats (the need for investment in maintaining logistics sustainability, changing supply chains, and rising delivery costs).

2023
The current empirical literature shows that logistics plays a vital role in increasing the total volume of international trade. However, there is scarce literature on the impact of logistics performance on global value chain trade. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to investigate the effect of logistics performance on global value chain trade, measured by the value-added exports. The empirical specification of this paper is based on the structural gravity model of international trade. The analysis is based on biennial panel data on bilateral trade flows for the EU-15, CEE, and the Western Balkans and covers the period from 2010 to 2018. The model is estimated with a Poisson Pseudo Maximum Likelihood Estimator. The results show that logistics performance appears to have significant positive effects on global value chain trade and that the logistics performance of the partner country plays a more critical role than the logistics performance of the reporting country. Institutional quality matters greatly for global value chain trade. Individual differences in the observed variables were found between selected groups of countries. The need to improve logistics performance and invest in knowledge and technology will help countries improve in value chains, along with adequate institutional support.

International Economics And Policy : an introduction to globalization and inequality
\"Relying on economic theory where necessary, this book emphasizes translating that theory into practical applications that will help students appreciate the clear importance of understanding how countries, businesses, workers, and governments interact with each other. It offers in-depth analysis, empirical evidence, and practical examples arising from all the forms of international exchange: international trade, or the exchange of goods and services across borders; international finance, or the roles that currencies, exchange rates, prices, and monetary systems play in facilitating global investment and trade; global migration, through which workers move from lower-wage countries to higher-wage countries; the international flows of capital and knowledge through multinational enterprises and global supply chains; and the global policy architecture underlying these flows\"-- Provided by publisher.

2021
The BRICS Group unites the most rapidly developing large countries, the trade and economic interaction between which can make a significant contribution to both the region’s and world’s development. The purpose of this article is to analyze the development of trade and economic interaction and logistics infrastructure in the BRICS countries, as well as to develop an analytical concept of the BRICS Digital Logistics Platform (DLP) as a tool for the BRICS development. The research methodology includes methods for statistical data analysis, a case study of the DLP development in the BRICS countries, an analysis of the existing definitions and methods for developing DLP, and methods of systemic analysis. The research results present the trade and logistics interaction between the BRICS countries. The level of logistics development in these countries is analyzed based on the World Bank Logistics Performance Index. The article highlights the existing restrictions for the expansion of the economic interaction between countries, one of which is the uneven development of the logistics infrastructure. The article states that the BRICS DLP can be a tool for overcoming the limitation of uneven logistics infrastructure and intensifying trade interaction between the BRICS countries. The experience of creating national DLPs in each of the BRICS countries is analyzed. It is shown that the BRICS countries cannot join one of the existing national DLPs because of the risks for the national sovereignty of the participants. Therefore, an original analytical description for the international BRICS DLP is proposed. It will focus on the simplicity and transparency of the interaction between all of the participants of trade and economic interactions at various levels, as well as on the reduction of economic and logistics risks.

The impact of international logistics cost on international trade based on VAR model
2024
In this paper, an impact degree indicator system with several indicators is established, and the stability, estimation, lag selection and forecasting of the VAR model are considered in the model construction, and the MVAR model structure and estimation methods are also studied. Chongqing city is selected as the object for the actual case, and the influence degree of international logistics factors on international trade is explored, and the influence of transportation costs on real trade is studied in depth from two aspects: the spatial and temporal dimensions and the influence of high logistics costs on the trade of CIS countries. The study results show that: high logistics costs lead to the concentration of international trade in Central Asian countries up to 0.4 to 0.5. More than half of the goods the six CIS countries sell to the EU are concentrated on one or two specific items. The impact of international logistics costs is so significant that it cannot be ignored in international trade.
