Identification of Bacterial Blight Resistant Rice Seeds Using Terahertz Imaging and Hyperspectral Imaging Combined With Convolutional Neural Network
Because bacterial blight (BB) disease seriously affects the yield and quality of rice, breeding BB resistant rice is an important priority for plant breeders but the process is time-consuming. The feasibility of using terahertz imaging technology and near-infrared hyperspectral imaging technology to identify BB resistant seeds has therefore been studied. The two-dimensional (2D) spectral images and one-dimensional (1D) spectra provided by both imaging methods were used to build discriminant models based on a deep learning method, the convolutional neural network (CNN), and traditional machine learning methods, support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), and partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA). The highest classification accuracy was achieved by the discriminate model based on CNN using the terahertz absorption spectra. Confusion matrixes were pictured to show the identification details. The t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE) method was used to visualize the process of CNN data processing. Terahertz imaging technology combined with CNN has great potential to quickly identify BB resistant rice seeds and is more accurate than using near-infrared hyperspectral imaging.

Advanced Analysis Techniques for Intra-cardiac Flow Evaluation from 4D Flow MRI
Purpose of the Review Time-resolved 3D velocity-encoded MR imaging with velocity encoding in three directions (4D Flow) has emerged as a novel MR acquisition technique providing detailed information on flow in the cardiovascular system. In contrast to other clinically available imaging techniques such as echo-Doppler, 4D Flow MRI provides the 3D Flow velocity field within a volumetric region of interest over the cardiac cycle. This work reviews the most recent advances in the development and application of dedicated image analysis techniques for the assessment of intra-cardiac flow features from 4D Flow MRI. Recent Findings Novel image analysis techniques have been developed for extraction of relevant intra-cardiac flow features from 4D Flow MRI, which have been successfully applied in various patient cohorts and volunteer studies. Disturbed flow patterns have been linked with valvular abnormalities and ventricular dysfunction. Recent technical advances have resulted in reduced scan times and improvements in image quality, increasing the potential clinical applicability of 4D Flow MRI. Summary 4D Flow MRI provides unique capabilities for 3D visualization and quantification of intra-cardiac blood flow. Contemporary knowledge on 4D Flow MRI shows promise for further exploration of the potential use of the technique in research and clinical applications.
3D graphics for game programming
\"Many of computer graphics classes in colleges are focused on real-time rendering and animation. However, it is not easy to nd an appropriate textbook, which presents the state of the art in interactive graphics, is balanced between theory and practicality, and is of a proper length to be covered in a semester. This book is written for answering the need and presents the must-know in interactive graphics. This book ts the advanced undergraduate or beginning graduate classes for 'Computer Graphics' and 'Game Programming.' Another primary reader group of this book may be composed of game developers, who have experience in graphics APIs and shader programming but have felt lack of theoretical background in 3D graphics. A lot of programming manual-like books can be found in the bookstore, but they do not provide a sufficient level of mathematical background for the game developers. Assuming that the readers have minimal understanding of vectors and matrices, this book provides an opportunity to combine their experiences with the background theory of computer graphics\"-- Provided by publisher.

Grating-based X-ray dark-field imaging: a new paradigm in radiography
Grating-based X-ray dark-field contrast is an emerging new imaging modality that is demonstrating particularly high potential for radiography. The signal in dark-field X-ray imaging is determined by small-angle X-ray scattering at structures typically below the spatial resolution of the imaging setup. Thus, this technique not only yields complementary information but also visualizes information that lies under the resolution limit for conventional, absorption-based radiography. Grating-based X-ray dark-field imaging has been shown to be feasible with both synchrotron radiation and conventional X-ray tubes. Lung, breast, and bone imaging have been identified as the applications promising the main impact, but other applications are on the horizon. Specifically, dark-field radiography has been used to detect pulmonary emphysema and assesses its regional distribution in mice and holds promise to improve the visualization of micro-calcifications in mammography and yields information about bone microstructure. Further technical developments are required to make the technique suitable for clinical use.
