The complete Psychotechnic League
World War III has ravaged the globe. Once great nations have been brought to their knees. Now, a new science offers hope for the future: Psychodynamics, the ability to influence government and popular opinion. Led by the Psychotechnic Institute, humanity denounces its violent ways, once and for all. While peace reigns on Earth, humankind ventures out into the Solar System--and to the stars beyond. But soon the cycle of war and destruction begins anew. Publisher.
Simulating the characteristics of extra-terrestrial civilizations that encounter Earth
2024
It is generally believed that it is unlikely that our civilization is alone in this galaxy. This belief is central to the premise of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), which has focused mainly on searching for radio signals originating from extraterrestrial communications, since it is believed that extraterrestrial craft visiting Earth would be an extremely unlikely event. However, the fact that we ourselves are currently working on developing probes to send to the Alpha Centauri system by 2069, strongly suggests that other civilizations may make similar, or more ambitious, efforts. Therefore, it is reasonable to inform our expectations by considering what characteristics and capabilities would be required for an interstellar civilization to find and visit Earth. In this paper, a physics-based analytic model of expanding interstellar civilizations is developed. A million civilizations that encounter Earth are simulated and their statistics are studied to determine their characteristics.

Interstellar travel.
2013
So far, our travels into outer space have been limited to the planets and moons surrounding the sun in our own solar system. What would we find if we made it all the way to another star's solar system? Today's astronomers are planning a mission to explore further reaches of space than humans have ever reached. Readers will discover how these bold scientists are working to build faster spaceships and overcome the obstacles that make it difficult for humans to survive in outer space.
Microalgae: towards human health from urban areas to space missions
2024
Space exploration and interstellar migration are important strategies for long-term human survival. However, extreme environmental conditions, such as space radiation and microgravity, can cause adverse effects, including DNA damage, cerebrovascular disease, osteoporosis, and muscle atrophy, which would require prophylactic and remedial treatment en route . Production of oral drugs in situ is therefore critical for interstellar travel and can be achieved through industrial production utilizing microalgae, which offers high production efficiency, edibility, resource minimization, adaptability, stress tolerance, and genetic manipulation ease. Synthetic biological techniques using microalgae as a chassis offer several advantages in producing natural products, including availability of biosynthetic precursors, potential for synthesizing natural metabolites, superior quality and efficiency, environmental protection, and sustainable development. This article explores the advantages of bioproduction from microalgal chassis using synthetic biological techniques, suitability of microalgal bioreactor-based cell factories for producing value-added natural metabolites, and prospects and applications of microalgae in interstellar travel.

Love and mummies
Intergalactic cruiseliner Infinity 8, traveling between the Milky Way and Andromeda, day 15. The ship is immobilized by a cluster of unidentified artifacts and debris the size of an entire solar system. The captain, a Tonn Shèar able to explore several parallel timelines by generating temporal loops, triggers Protocol 8 and summons his best agents to investigate. Each agent will have 8 hours to explore the structure in a separate parallel time loop to hopefully discover its origin. First up: agent Yoko Keren, who uncovers a nest of out-of-control necrophages, a plot to destroy the ship, and a story of impossible love with octopus breath.

Several Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) encountered by military, commercial, and civilian aircraft have been reported to be structured craft that exhibit ‘impossible’ flight characteristics. We consider a handful of well-documented encounters, including the 2004 encounters with the Nimitz Carrier Group off the coast of California, and estimate lower bounds on the accelerations exhibited by the craft during the observed maneuvers. Estimated accelerations range from almost 100 g to 1000s of gs with no observed air disturbance, no sonic booms, and no evidence of excessive heat commensurate with even the minimal estimated energies. In accordance with observations, the estimated parameters describing the behavior of these craft are both anomalous and surprising. The extreme estimated flight characteristics reveal that these observations are either fabricated or seriously in error, or that these craft exhibit technology far more advanced than any known craft on Earth. In many cases, the number and quality of witnesses, the variety of roles they played in the encounters, and the equipment used to track and record the craft favor the latter hypothesis that these are indeed technologically advanced craft. The observed flight characteristics of these craft are consistent with the flight characteristics required for interstellar travel, i.e., if these observed accelerations were sustainable in space, then these craft could easily reach relativistic speeds within a matter of minutes to hours and cover interstellar distances in a matter of days to weeks, proper time.

Galactic traversability: a new concept for extragalactic SETI
2021
Interstellar travel in the Milky Way is commonly thought to be a long and dangerous enterprise, but are all galaxies so hazardous? I introduce the concept of galactic traversability to address this question. Stellar populations are one factor in traversability, with higher stellar densities and velocity dispersions aiding rapid spread across a galaxy. The interstellar medium (ISM) is another factor, as gas, dust grains and cosmic rays all pose hazards to starfarers. I review the current understanding of these components in different types of galaxies, and conclude that red quiescent galaxies without star formation have favourable traversability. Compact elliptical galaxies and globular clusters could be ‘super-traversable’, because stars are packed tightly together and there are minimal ISM hazards. Overall, if the ISM is the major hindrance to interstellar travel, galactic traversability increases with cosmic time as gas fractions and star formation decline. Traversability is a consideration in extragalactic surveys for the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI).
