China’s Foreign Policy and Critical Theory of International Relations
Informed by the ongoing structural shifts in inter-state relations, this study proposes Critical Theory of International Relations (CTIR) as a framework to analyze China’s foreign policy doctrine. It holds that the critical method best reflects China’s conceptualization of international relations due to its emphasis on the state’s principal function to lead historical progress and emancipation, as opposed to traditional theories which either ignore the state and give priority to sub-state or supra-state structures, or do not recognize its potential to serve as an emancipatory agency. This essay, in this respect, represents an introductory attempt to apply CTIR to contemporary international relations, maintaining that China’s material and ideational emergence signifies a radical transformation of the post-war global order and the role of the state.

Hospital isolation doesn't keep man from own wedding
Samuel Kim, 27, is expected to be in solitary confinement for few weeks with an undisclosed illness. But when the patient is released, he will join his very-patient new wife, Helen Oh, on a European honeymoon, the Orange County Register reported. Oh turned to the ubiquitous internet service when Kim broke the news that his doctors wanted him isolated and the wedding would have to be postponed, she told the newspaper.
Prospect Heights church working with neighbors on lighted parking
The original cost for the lot was about $300,000. [Samuel Kim] said the church has spent about an extra $250,000 on the trees and other changes. Kim had to go back to the church's 1,200 member congregation for donations. Kim said he would compromise on the number of lights. \"The original plan called for 52 lights; we cut that down to about 19, but if the city agrees we will try to go with 10 lights,\" Kim said.
Removing Ovaries May Save Patients' Fertility
University of Washington physicians have removed and frozen an ovary from a 14-year-old leukemia patient to protect her fertility against chemotherapy. This week, they began offering the technology to other patients needing treatments that damage the ovaries. Years later, pieces of the tissue, containing thousands of eggs, may be thawed and returned to the patient's body. Mature eggs would be removed for laboratory fertilization and reimplanted in her body, should she wish to have children. Researchers in England, where the technology originated, said a human pregnancy may be attempted as early as next year. So far, the technology has resulted in live births in sheep and mice. Scientists at UW and other medical centers are researching how best to mature eggs and where to reimplant thawed tissue in the body.
KOREAN CONGREGATIONS BOOM GROWING FAITH CHURCHES HELP IMMIGRANTS ADJUST
That has led to a boom in America of Korean congregations of all Christian denominations, with Korean Presbyterians leading the way. Church officials estimate that in North Jersey alone, the number of Korean Christian congregations has nearly doubled from the 70 counted five years ago. The KPCA is one of two Korean Presbyterian denominations serving the nearly 800,000-strong Korean population in the United States. While Korean Presbyterians have adapted some of the liturgies to their culture, they remain heart and soul with their mother Presbyterian church, sharing their ecclesiastic structure and other traditions. As the number of Korean businesses on Broad Avenue multiplied, [Samuel Changkil Kim] asked shopkeepers in the congregation to place signs in English as well as Korean in order to be more welcoming, and he has cautioned those in the congregation about creating ill will by double parking.
