Sense and sensuality. (Italian restaurant Sapore in Melbourne, Australia)
1996
Architect Tom Kovac created enigmatic sculptural spaces in designing Sapore, an Italian restaurant in Melbourne, Australia, in the process deviating from the usually chic styles found in dining places. From the outside, the restaurant is an unobstrusive entity with its simple white facade with big glass doors which open to the pavement terrace. Set with tables and chairs, the terrace becomes an extension of the interior and appears to beckon to passersby. Kovac's penchant for spatial dynamics, plastic form and surface is evident in his work.
