Leeper Keeps On Truckin' By Giving Away Thousands Of Tomes
[Ed Leeper] is the proprietor of Liquid Books, a project that he calls a bookmobile/conceptual performance artwork. Using his 1986 truck, he has stocked it with books he inherited from a friend. Leeper is giving away his books, about 10,000 total, obtained from Moe Turner, a former engineering professor at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey. Turner amassed an impressive collection, about 30,000 in all, Leeper said. Want to help? To donate books to Ed Leeper's Liquid Books, call Leeper at 373-0823.
Two artists, of heaven and earth
Aileen Zollweg, who delightfully blends a vivid imagination oriented toward contemporary ideas with a minimally stylized realism, is showing more than 20 paintings on two popular themes, altars and angels. Robert Vickrey, whose show was recently at the Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, has also drawn artists chalking on the street. But Zollweg literally gives \"Creating a Guardian Angel\" her own spin. A show by Zollweg is always worth visiting; this one at 937 Liberty Avenue is no exception.
