In the shadow of the art work : art-based learning in practice
Art is a form of thinking and dialoguing, and an usual source of knowledge. This publication introduces art-based learning, a method that enables the spectator to explore these dialogues and 'converse' with works of art. Art and culture analyst and educational designer Jeroen Lutters uses three triptychs to demonstrate how relevant questions can produce a different perception and understanding. The book is intended for students and educators of art, art history, drama and cinema, literature, anthropology, theology, philosophy, and interdisciplinary studies. The developed method is also highly suited to artistic research at academies of art, music, film, and dance.

Generative learning. Which strategies for what age?
Generative learning strategies are intended to improve students' learning by prompting them to actively make sense of the material to be learned. But are they effective for all students? This review provides an overview of six popular generative learning strategies: concept mapping, explaining, predicting, questioning, testing, and drawing. Its main purpose is to review for what ages the effectiveness of these strategies has been demonstrated and whether there are indications of age-related differences in their effectiveness. The description of each strategy covers (1) how it is supposed to work, (2) the evidence on its effectiveness in different age groups, and (3) if there are age-related differences in its effectiveness. It is found that while all six generative learning strategies reviewed have proven effective for university students, evidence is mixed for younger students. Whereas some strategies (practice testing, predicting) seem to be effective already in lower-elementary-school children, others (drawing, questioning) seem to be largely ineffective until secondary school. The review closes with a call for research on the cognitive and metacognitive prerequisites of generative learning that can explain these differences. (DIPF/Orig.).

Systemisches Lerncoaching in der Beruflichen Bildung : Ein Beitrag zur Inklusion Und zur Reduzierung von Vertragsabbrüchen
Das Thema „Systemisches Lerncoaching in der beruflichen Bildung. Ein Beitrag zur Inklusion und zur Reduzierung von Vertragsabbrüchen.“ setzt sich aus einer Kombination zweier Hauptaspekte zusammen. Neben den Gründen für Ausbildungsabbrüche und Maßnahmen, zu deren Verhinderung in handwerklichen Berufen, insbesondere im Bildungsgang „Anlagenmechaniker/-in für Sanitär- Heizungs- und Klimatechnik (SHK)“, steht das didaktische Konzept des „Systemisches Lerncoaching“ im berufspädagogischen Arbeitsfeld mit der Frage nach der Wirkung auf das Selbstkonzept der Schulfähigkeit der Schülerinnen und Schüler, die soziale Integration und das Klassenklima im Fokus dieser Arbeit. Beide Themen spannen den Erkenntnisrahmen um die politische, pädagogische Perspektive von Inklusion in der beruflichen Bildung. Der empirische Forschungsteil zu Ausbildungsabbrüchen umfasst sowohl qualitative (Fragebogen) als auch quantitative Forschungsmethoden (Tiefeninterviews). Es wurden Schülerinnen und Schüler, Lehrkräfte, Ausbildungsbetriebe und Erziehungs- und Sorgeberechtigte befragt. Primäre Gründe, eine Ausbildung abzubrechen, liegen hauptsächlich in der Person des Auszubildenden. Eine hohe Motivation und Zuverlässigkeit, gute Lernvoraussetzungen, realitätsnahe Erwartungen an den Beruf sowie ein stabiles soziales Milieu stellen die wesentlichen Gelingensbedingungen für das erfolgreiche Absolvieren einer Ausbildung dar. Die frühzeitige Kommunikation über Probleme in der Ausbildung sowie die Verbesserung der Lernortkooperation zwischen Lehrkräften, Ausbildungsbetrieben sowie Erziehungs- und Sorgeberechtigten führen in der Regel zu einer reduzierten Anzahl von Vertragsauflösungen. Eine individuelle Diagnostik/Beratung sowie die Förderung der Auszubildenden haben eine hohe Wirksamkeit auf einen erfolgreichen beruflichen Abschluss und verhindern präventiv Ausbildungsabbrüche. Die Wirkung des Lerncoachingkonzepts wurde mit dem standardisierten Fragebogen zur Erfassung emotionaler und sozialer Schulerfahrungen (FESS) 1 bei den Berufsgruppen Energieelektroniker/-in, Kraftfahrzeugmechatroniker/-in sowie Anlagenmechaniker/- in für Sanitär-, Heizungs- und Klimatechnik in der Modellklasse im Vergleich zu den Kontrollgruppen untersucht. Die Umsetzung des Lerncoachingkonzepts wirkt sich sehr positiv auf das individuelle Selbstkonzept der Lernenden aus. Die Anwendung des Lerncoachingkonzepts führt zu höherer Selbstwirksamkeit und Motivation der Lernenden sowie zu einer Verringerung der Anzahl an Ausbildungsabbrüchen. Einen weiteren Forschungsbedarf stellt die quantitative und qualitative Erweiterung der Untersuchung des Lerncoachingsansatzes im Sinne einer Langzeitstudie zur Klärung der langfristigen Wirksamkeit auf das Lern- sowie das Abbruchverhalten der Auszubildenden und die dafür erforderlichen Ressourcen dar.
