2023
In a globalized world, small- and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises (manufacturing SME) face the challenge of keeping up with global competition. Although AI is ascribed the potential to fundamentally change entire markets, industries, and general business activities, the question remains how SME can implement AI in their operation effectively and efficiently, and therefore build up potential (service) business models. The aim of this paper is to reveal the innovation potential of these systems and to provide instructions on how they can be used by SME. Through these resources can be used more efficiently and new business models can be created. The causes for the little use of AI are numerous and solutions were sought in this work. The result is a socio-technical framework that allows manufacturing SME to build up AI-based (service) business models for themselves.

Identifying the Value Co-Creation Model and Upgrading Path of Manufacturing Enterprises from the Value Network Perspective
2022
The servitization of manufacturing enterprises has two main directions: production servitization and product servitization. The value co-creation model describes the transformation process of servitization of manufacturing enterprises; it is far more complex than that of service enterprises, and requires more in-depth research. This paper explores the value co-creation model and upgrading path based on the servitization of manufacturing enterprises, based on the idea that the value network supported by information technology has become a vital support for the servitization value co-creation of manufacturing enterprises. Referring to the degree of servitization of manufacturing enterprises and the degree of integration of complementary resources among value network members, we explore the value co-creation model between manufacturing enterprises and each network subject. We obtain four models: double-low model, servitization leading model, resource complementary leading model, and double-high model. We then clarify the characteristics, scope of application, advantages, and disadvantages of each model, and the means of value creation. We also apply the rough set method to empirically test the feasibility of the classification parameters of the value co-creation model and the accuracy of the classification rules, using Chinese listed and non-listed manufacturing enterprises as a sample. The findings provide a theoretical reference and practical guidance for manufacturing enterprises to achieve sustainable development and determine the upgrade path of the value co-creation model.

The guide to entrepreneurship : how to create wealth for your company and stakeholders
\"Whether you work for an established company and want to trailblaze new products (intrapreneurship), or want to establish a new venture (entrepreneurship), this guide will serve as an invaluable resource. The book explores what constitutes entrepreneurial timber and the leadership skills to raise all the needed capital. Most new venture business failures arise from two sources: (1) opportunity is not real, or (2) the means required to pursue the idea is not available. This book will provide the aspiring entrepreneur with a \"how-to-guide\" to success, with concrete action plans\"-- Provided by publisher.

2018
The Brundtland report in 1987 has started a wide dialogue on incorporating sustainability into innovation, that is, the fusion of environmental and social aspects into products, processes, and organizational structures. While previous research has often focused on the large firms, the last decade has seen the main target of research being shifted to small industries that are now being increasingly recognized as main contributors to sustainable development. Also, in case of the Indian perspective, the Indian Government decided to declare 2010 as a Decade of Innovation. So this provides us with an opportunity to create a roadmap for Sustainable Oriented Innovation. MSME have been discussed in brief taking into account the Indian perspective. A study of literature on sustainability, sustainable development, sustainable manufacturing and innovation has been done. The need and benefit of integrating sustainability with innovation have been emphasized. Also, literature is obtained indicating how integrating sustainability with innovation acts as an enabler for MSME's to enhance their opportunities and also to increase their development potential. The manufacturing enterprises in developed (UK) and a developing country (India) which have incorporated sustainability with innovation are compared. Finally, the differences and the similarities in the magnitude of incorporation of sustainable oriented innovation are discussed.

Can the digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises promote enterprise innovation?
2022
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to investigate the relations between the digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises and enterprise innovation to provide inspiration for promoting the digitization and upgrading of China's manufacturing industry and facilitate enterprises' innovative development.Design/methodology/approachBased on a panel data of 584 listed manufacturing companies in China from 2016 to 2020, and using a fixed effects approach, this paper empirically examines the impact of digital transformation on corporate innovation in manufacturing enterprises, as well as examining the influential mechanisms and heterogeneity.FindingsThe research shows that the digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises has effectively improved the innovation capacity of enterprises and verifies different situations through heterogeneity. At the same time, the research clarifies the mediating effect of the innovation investment mechanism, cost control mechanism, and profit guarantee mechanism on the relations between the digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises and the innovation capacity of enterprises.Originality/valueBased on Chinese manufacturing enterprise samples, this paper empirically tests the influential mechanism of digital transformation on the innovation capability of manufacturing enterprises, therefore clarifying the main mediating effects. This paper could provide inspiration for manufacturing companies to make good use of digital transformation rules according to their own situation and improve their innovation capabilities, thereby enhancing competitiveness in the digital economy era.

Can Artificial Intelligence Improve the Energy Efficiency of Manufacturing Companies? Evidence from China
2022
Improving energy efficiency is an important way to achieve low-carbon economic development, a common goal of most nations. Based on the comprehensive survey data of enterprises above a designated size in Guangdong Province, this paper studies the impact of artificial intelligence on the energy efficiency of manufacturing enterprises. The results show that: (1) artificial intelligence, as measured by the use of industrial robots, has significantly improved the energy efficiency of manufacturing enterprises. This conclusion is still robust after introducing data on industrial robots in the United States over the same time period as the instrumental variable for the endogeneity test. (2) The mechanism test shows that artificial intelligence mainly promotes the improvement in energy efficiency by promoting technological progress; the impact of artificial intelligence on the technological efficiency of enterprises is not significant. (3) Heterogeneity analysis shows that the age of the manufacturing enterprises inhibits a promoting effect of artificial intelligence on energy efficiency; manufacturing enterprises’ performance can enhance the promoting effect of artificial intelligence on energy efficiency, but this promoting effect can only be shown when the enterprise performance is positive. The paper clarifies both the impact of artificial intelligence on the energy efficiency of manufacturing enterprises and its mechanism of action; this will help provide a reference for future decision-making designed to improve manufacturing enterprises’ energy efficiency.

Design and Simulation Research on Digital Twin Task Driven Dynamic Control Model for Manufacturing Enterprises
2025
This article proposes a task driven dynamic operation management model based on digital twin technology from the perspective of manufacturing enterprises adapting to complex and diverse environments to improve management performance. It comprehensively utilizes various methods of information collection and fusion, real time status response feedback control, and task priority sorting to achieve a dynamic optimal structure that supports collaboration of multiple task operations. By using Anylogic multi agent simulation tool to model and simulate the model, multiple typical scenarios for task execution were set, and the model was evaluated for resource utilization, response time delay, and task scheduling quality. The experimental results showed that the model in this paper can effectively improve task execution efficiency (by 12.4%), task resource allocation and matching degree (by 17.8%), and task response timeliness (by an average time reduction of 23.5%), which can meet the requirements of intelligent production and business management.
