Air Force Vet Worked on Space Program
After Meyer retired to Albuquerque, he and [Charles G. \"Moose\" Mathison] hunted and played bridge together. Later in his career, Meyer flew C-130 aircraft that were equipped to recover satellites. One of his plaques was in honor of the \"100th recovery of a vehicle returned from orbit, June 1966.\" Attached to the plaque was a piece of parachute, his wife said. Since he loved to swim, Meyer was a lifeguard with the Red Cross at Kirtland in the swim therapy program three times a week. He received a plaque in 1992 in appreciation for 1,714 hours of volunteering.
