MAYCOCK COUNTING COST OF OFFICIAL'S CIRCUIT BLUNDER
JOHN MAYOCK leaves for Australia on Wednesday uncertain whether Britain will want him back for the world indoor championships after a bizarre blunder by a confused official sent him sprinting for the finish a lap too early and cost him victory at the Great North Cross Country. Shambles, farce and diabolical were just three of the words uttered by the European indoor 3,000m champion about a race he believed would re-establish him as Britain's No.1 middle distance runner in the selectors'eyes.
Off-leash dogs not welcome
John Maycock just wanted to give his dogs, K2 and KT play time in Ceal Tingley Park last Wednesday The problem for Maycock is he--s wheelchair-bound and K2 and KT are service dogs who help him with simple tasks most people take for granted. Maycock, who has been in a wheelchair for 27 years, said K2 is a licensed service dog that helps him do nearly everything from getting his shoes to carrying grocery bags, but K2 is nearing retirement so KT is in training, but not certified.
Ticket scam victims sought
Fifteen victims of [John Fredrick Maycock]'s alleged scam have been identified, said Salt Lake County sheriff's Sgt. Rosie Rivera, but investigators believe there are more. Four travel agencies also were victimized, as Maycock purchased tickets with stolen credit cards, she said.
