This work traces the history of post-war France by tracking the Comite Regional d'Action Viticole (CRAV), a militant collective of winegrowers who have used protest and violence to push back against attempts to modernise the French economy and state and the wider impacts of globalisation.
Serious adverse events of special interest following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination in randomized trials in adults
In 2020, prior to COVID-19 vaccine rollout, the Brighton Collaboration created a priority list, endorsed by the World Health Organization, of potential adverse events relevant to COVID-19 vaccines. We adapted the Brighton Collaboration list to evaluate serious adverse events of special interest observed in mRNA COVID-19 vaccine trials. Secondary analysis of serious adverse events reported in the placebo-controlled, phase III randomized clinical trials of Pfizer and Moderna mRNA COVID-19 vaccines in adults (NCT04368728 and NCT04470427), focusing analysis on Brighton Collaboration adverse events of special interest. Pfizer and Moderna mRNA COVID-19 vaccines were associated with an excess risk of serious adverse events of special interest of 10.1 and 15.1 per 10,000 vaccinated over placebo baselines of 17.6 and 42.2 (95 % CI −0.4 to 20.6 and −3.6 to 33.8), respectively. Combined, the mRNA vaccines were associated with an excess risk of serious adverse events of special interest of 12.5 per 10,000 vaccinated (95 % CI 2.1 to 22.9); risk ratio 1.43 (95 % CI 1.07 to 1.92). The Pfizer trial exhibited a 36 % higher risk of serious adverse events in the vaccine group; risk difference 18.0 per 10,000 vaccinated (95 % CI 1.2 to 34.9); risk ratio 1.36 (95 % CI 1.02 to 1.83). The Moderna trial exhibited a 6 % higher risk of serious adverse events in the vaccine group: risk difference 7.1 per 10,000 (95 % CI –23.2 to 37.4); risk ratio 1.06 (95 % CI 0.84 to 1.33). Combined, there was a 16 % higher risk of serious adverse events in mRNA vaccine recipients: risk difference 13.2 (95 % CI −3.2 to 29.6); risk ratio 1.16 (95 % CI 0.97 to 1.39). The excess risk of serious adverse events found in our study points to the need for formal harm-benefit analyses, particularly those that are stratified according to risk of serious COVID-19 outcomes. These analyses will require public release of participant level datasets.
Motion, Body and Corporeal Substance in Leibniz: The Defense of Relativity of Motion and its Impact in the Development of his Metaphysics of Bodies
In this paper we evaluate the impact of Leibniz’s defense of relativity of motion on his metaphysics. We argue that the abandonment of the absolutist position makes void his first notion of corporeal substance. First, we analyze Leibniz’s conception of body and movement in his youth (1663-1672) and explain how the assumption of absolute motion during these years plays a role in his notion of corporeal substance. Second, we examine his arguments in favor of relativity of motion during the Parisian period (1672-1676) and show the repercussion on his first conception of the corporeal substance.

Analyzing the relationship between the level of professional training received by physical education teachers and their use of modern teaching techniques in public schools
Introduction: Public schools are educational institutions funded and operated by the government. They form a cornerstone of the education system and aim to provide equal educational opportunities for all children and young people, regardless of their socioeconomic background, abilities, or potential. Objective: The research aimed to identify the level of professional training received by physical education teachers in public schools. Methodology: The researchers used the descriptive method, employing both the survey approach and the correlational approach. The research population consisted of physical education teachers in public (intermediate, preparatory, and secondary) schools affiliated with the General Directorate of Education in Nineveh Governorate, totaling 760 teachers. Results: The results show the questionnaire on modern teaching technologies obtained an average level. That indicates that teachers possess a certain level of awareness and skill in using some of these technologies and show some interest in applying them. Discussion: There is a strong and significant correlation between the professional training of physical education teachers and their use of modern teaching technologies. Conclusions: The average result of the professional training questionnaire indicates a moderate level of training among physical education teachers. While they are not entirely deprived of opportunities, support, or attention toward development, they also do not receive sufficient support and opportunities for advancement. Dennica: A case study of women’s marginalization in Central European modernism
The article presents the case of Dennica, a women’s magazine founded in 1898 by Terézia Vansová that, for a brief time, served Slovak modernists as their press organ on the background of a larger phenomenon of marginalizing women from the Central European modernist movements. The study of the flagship magazines of the literary groups that developed in the Habsburg-Slavic area under the influence of Young Vienna – Young Poland, the Croatian pokret mladih, and the Czech modernist milieu around Moderní Revue – allows us to discern the conditions under which female collaborators were allowed access to those prestigious pages. On the other hand, the takeover of Dennica by František Votruba and his efforts to turn it into a Slovak modernist almanac bring a better understanding of the mechanism according to which the exclusion of women constituted the very condition for a group of male writers to be interpreted by the literary history in terms of a modernist movement. Indeed, according to literary scholars, if the Slovak modernist movement existed at all, it was only for a short period between 1907 and 1909, that is, when it took over a successful women’s magazine to put it to its use.
Cardiovascular Adverse Events Reported from COVID-19 Vaccines: A Study Based on WHO Database
Background: Thirteen COVID-19 vaccines are granted emergency approval. It is crucial to monitor their adverse events post vaccination. The present study focuses on cardiovascular adverse events post-COVID-19 vaccination and aims to determine adverse events with the administered vaccine. Methodology: The cardiovascular (CVS) adverse events were extracted for three broad headings (SOCs) - cardiac disorders, vascular disorders, and investigations. Descriptive statistics were reported in the form of percentage and frequency, and the disproportionality analysis was conducted. Results: For the cardiovascular system, 4863 adverse events (AEs) were reported from BNT162b2 Pfzer, 1222 AstraZeneca, Moderna, and other COVID-19 vaccines. Common adverse events observed with vaccines under study were tachycardia (16.41%), fushing (12.17%), hypertension (5.82%), hypotension (3.60%) and peripheral coldness (2.41%). Based on disproportionality analysis (IC025 values), acute myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and circulatory collapse were linked to the vaccines in the age group >75 years. Hypertension, severe hypertension, supraventricular tachycardia, sinus tachycardia, and palpitations were associated across all age groups and either gender. Amongst the investigations, abnormal ECG findings raised C-reactive protein, elevated D dimer, and troponin were reported in specific age groups or gender or all subjects. Conclusion: Although cardiovascular events have been reported with the COVID-19 vaccines, the causality is yet to be established because such CVS AEs are also usually associated with the general public even without intervention. Hence, people should be administered these vaccines, and sustained monitoring of these AEs should be done. Mobile Lives
How should we understand the personal and social impacts of complex mobility systems? Can lifestyles based around intensive travel, transport and tourism be maintained in the 21st century? What possibility post-carbon lifestyles? In this provocative study of \"life on the move\", Anthony Elliott and John Urry explore how complex mobility systems are transforming everyday, ordinary lives. The authors develop their arguments through an analysis of various sectors of mobile lives: networks, new digital technologies, consumerism, the lifestyles of 'globals', and intimate relationships at-a-distance. Elliott and Urry introduce a range of new concepts - miniaturized mobilities, affect storage, network capital, meetingness, neighbourhood lives, portable personhood, ambient place, globals - to capture the specific ways in which mobility systems intersect with mobile lives. This book represents a novel approach in \"post-carbon\" social theory. It will be essential reading for advanced undergraduate students, postgraduates and teachers in sociology, social theory, politics, geography, international relations, cultural studies, and economics and business studies.
Among romanizers and liberals: the Modern education in the province of Pará during the XIX Century
The present article analyses the educational scenario in Pará during the late nineteenth century, emphasizing the disputes between Liberals and Romanizers for the hegemony in the educational area. It presents the ideological belief of the Brazilian educational privileged as a means for social transformation that arrives in Pará and is articulated to the issue of race. Liberals, defenders of the Republic, make use of this discourse and start an open debate through the newspapers of the province’s capital on conditions of the public education in the region. Romanizers, threatened of losing their political power that the clerical elite had in the region, specifically in the educational matter, defend the point that only the Catholic Church would be able to manage the publishes teaching towards progress and civilization, against barbarism and degradation.
