New Directions: Richard's Vision
2007
Mabry pays tribute to Richard Miller, focusing on his 1985 decision as editor of the bulletin of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) to include a regular column focusing on contemporary music. He exchanged a number of letters with Mabry in which he expressed his hope that the column would discuss performance problems, especially as they concern the singer and avant-garde vocal techniques. Over its 20 years, the \"New Directions\" column has led NATS members to see the need for such information, and it is now considered mainstream.
