Burmese authorities warn journalists against inciting riots

The government last November confirmed it was moving its ministries to a new administrative capital on the outskirts of Pyinmana. Officials said it will be easier to steer national development from the new location 320 kilometres north of Yangon.
Burmese commander warns people to follow tradition, culture

He said, responsible personnel need to be aware in order to control and supervise the people so that the noble objectives of Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival are upheld. They should see that the dress code and social behaviour are not against Myanmar culture and Buddhist teaching; rough water throwing causing danger and harm should be avoided; speaking, singing, or engaging in skits and acts directly or indirectly undermining the trust in the government; disturbing the peaceful enjoyment of the people, and inciting unrest causing disintegration of national unity should be prevented.

U Hla [Myint Swe] said the extended broadcasting time will allow the introduction of other new features such as an English music programme, while preparation is underway for another new spot for listeners who are interested in football. \"We plan to present chat shows featuring popular Myanmar athletes including Myo Hlaing Win, Win Aung and Than Toe Aung, who will discuss matters relating to sports in general as well as national and international football,\" U Hla Myint Swe said.
