The Pros and Cons of Newspaper Ombudsmen
2004
Rocked by scandals, The New York Times recently reversed its longstanding position and appointed a \"public editor\" to handle reader complaints. Also known as \"ombudsmen,\" these advocates help enhance news media's credibility, says Neil Nemeth, an associate professor of communication at Purdue University-Calumet. His book, News Ombudsmen in North America: Assessing an Experiment in Social Responsibility, offers a succinct history of the job title and a warning about the many pressures on news watchdogs. Nemeth is interviewed.

Juninho's back with a bang in easy win
2003
It took a mere five minutes for [Juninho] to bring Samba football back to Teesside, curling a 25-yard free-kick against the crossbar with Bradford City goalkeeper Neil Bennett well beaten. The defender failed to make significant contact with the ball and it fell nicely for the grounded Juninho, who swept it home from close range. There was more to come from Juninho, who demonstrated an encouraging turn of pace early in the second half as he beat one defender before his run was halted illegally. Boro: Crossley, Ehiogu, Davies, [David Murphy], Wilkshire, Wilson, Doriva, [Stewart Downing], Juninho (Smith 70), [Szilard Nemeth] (Dove 63), Maccarone (Cade 63). Subs (not used): Taylor, Jones (gk).
