McCain to join Bush at Allentown rally President hopes senator's visit will aid him in swing state
[John McCain]'s support for [George Bush] comes four years after their bitter rivalry for the 2000 Republican nomination. Since then, McCain has broken with the administration on several major issues, including tax cuts and the Medicare drug plan. \"Every time McCain goes on the campaign trail, it reinforces how strong this president is,\" said Bush spokesman Kevin Madden. \"McCain's help has been centered around why this president is right, why his positive vision of the future is right.\" \"It won't help [Bush] with me,\" said Carroll Nicholls of Bethlehem, a 67-year-old social service worker who said his opinion of McCain has changed in the past four years. \"My personal feeling about McCain now is he has waffled so much in favor of Bush. I'm not sure where he stands now.\"
