Elite Orienteering athletes have a better Useful Field of Vision than non-elite
Ball and Owsley (1993) UFOV Test is a computer-based screen test that allows to determinate the speed of visual processing under ever-increasing task requirements. Allahyari et al. (2007), when comparing subjects involved and not involved in accidents on a simulated driving session, showed that in the peripheral tasks with divided and selective attention conditions, there were significant differences between the two groups. According to the authors, the results emphasise the important role of peripheral vision on safety and driving performance. In sports, in another complex situation like driving, UFOV has also shown to be a parameter that separates experts from non-experts, namely at visual search strategies (parallel and sequential, respectively). In this study, we wanted to verify if assessment of elite and non-elite orienteering athletes' UFOV would also reveal significant differences between both groups, since orienteering requires a good capacity of dividing attention between several central and peripheral stimuli, such as maps, terrain clues and trail obstacles (slippery slopes, loose stones, etc.).

Los circuitos permanentes de orientación en España (The permanent orienteering circuits in Spain)
The objective of this study was to analyze the chronology and characteristics of the permanent orienteering circuits in Spain. The sample of this work consisted of those permanent orientation circuits whose existence in Spain could be verified (n = 115). The search for the sample was carried out mainly through the Google search engine. After this search, various variables such as the year of creation, place where it is located, modality, environment, control system, etc., were analyzed through SPSS 20.0 using descriptive and inferential statistics. From the results, a growing trend can be observed in the number of permanent orienteering circuits, being the first circuit inaugurated in 2004. The predominant modality is the O-pie, and as for the type of environment, in open the natural environment and in limited environments the parks. The most used control system is the beacon edited with point codes, letters, etc. It can be concluded that the permanent orienteering circuits have been increasing over the years, having a considerable increase in the last 5 years compared to the previous years. In conclusion, their presence is unevenly distributed throughout Spain and technologies are integrated into them, a resource so present in our society and in many areas.

A survey on algorithmic approaches for solving tourist trip design problems
The tourist trip design problem (TTDP) refers to a route-planning problem for tourists interested in visiting multiple points of interest (POIs). TTDP solvers derive daily tourist tours, i.e., ordered visits to POIs, which respect tourist constraints and POIs attributes. The main objective of the problem discussed is to select POIs that match tourist preferences, thereby maximizing tourist satisfaction, while taking into account a multitude of parameters and constraints (e.g., distances among POIs, visiting time required for each POI, POIs visiting days/hours, entrance fees, weather conditions) and respecting the time available for sightseeing on a daily basis. The aim of this work is to survey models, algorithmic approaches and methodologies concerning tourist trip design problems. Recent approaches are examined, focusing on problem models that best capture a multitude of realistic POIs attributes and user constraints; further, several interesting TTDP variants are investigated. Open issues and promising prospects in tourist trip planning research are also discussed.
