CAO probe concentrates on Singapore DERIVATIVES TRADING
CAO Holding has yet to comment on Mr [Chen Jiulin]'s allegations. The issue is complicated by the fact that many CAO executives hold positions in both companies -a common practice in Chinese state- owned companies. For example, Mr Chen was also vice-president at the parent company while Gu Yanfei, appointed by the parent to head CAO (Singapore)'s restructuring, is a non-executive director at the subsidiary and head of enterprise planning and development at the parent. * A Singapore investor watchdog is seeking legal advice on a possible lawsuit against CAO (Singapore) over its losses, Bloomberg reported.

Sense & Sensibility. Form, Genre, and Function in the Film Score
Examines musical form and expressive content in the novel \"Sense & Sensibility,\" in the 1995 film adaptation written by and starring Emma Thompson and directed by Ang Lee, and the film's musical score by Patrick Doyle. Contends that film music is a genre in which aesthetic concerns of form collide with the immediate demands of content in particularly pointed ways, and this score is especially intriguing in that respect. Argues that in order to understand the implications of the music in the film, one must first address some conventions of musical form, as well as Jane Austen's novel and its literary context. Presents themes and formal procedures, both narrative and musical, as historically contingent rather than having a causal relationship. Concludes that what is happening in \"Sense & Sensibility\" is a free adaptation of musical form in a truly filmic context, in which dramatic narrative, cinematic technique, and musical form work together. Includes notes, musical examples and stills.

\"We were in one of those little cubicles and I remember a female doctor came in and said: `Normally we give children a scan and generally we don't find anything, but this time we've found something. We have found the reasons for his headaches but I don't want to tell you until the other doctor is here',\" said [Samantha], 39. \"It is not a feeling of failure,\" Mr [Patrick Lo] said. \"The patient comes first. We're not here for the glory of removing all the tumour if a child is left disabled.\" \"You can't hide from a child they have cancer,\" Prof [David Ashley] said. \"If you don't tell them, the vacuum gets full with all sorts of terrible fantasies: I've been naughty, I'm being punished or the needles are never going to stop. You have to be open and honest.\"

Kenny stays on course, Shalin derailed
Earlier, [Kenny Ang] was ousted by World Championships Masters winner Ahmed Shaheen of Qatar in the third round. He rolled 182 and 172 against Ahmed's 248 and 215. In the second game, both picked up a couple of splits. [Patrick Backe] needed a spare in the 10th frame but he chopped and lost to Kenny 164- 168. Kenny won the rubber 205-162. Kenny will meet Qatar's Bandar Al-Shafi today and the winner of the tie will probably face Ahmed in the semifinal. Ahmed faces Qatar's Saeed Al- Hajri in the last eight.
