It is impossible to call the IDF policy vis-\\-vis the continued firing of the Qassams from the Gaza Strip restraint. In fact what we have here is a policy of humiliation\\ The claim that Israel continues to show restraint in order not to harm the position of Abu Mazin [Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmud Abbas] on the backdrop of the intra-Palestinian struggle being conducted in recent week holds no water. If at least Israel tries to foil the firing of Qassams this will not harm Abu Mazin's position. This will be accepted as natural on the Palestinian side. After all, also there they understand that an attempt to foil Qassam firing before it happens is even less than the minimum required from a state that must care for the lives of its citizens\\ It is reasonable to assume that following yesterday's injuries in Sderot the restraint will stop and the IDF will receive permission to renew the firing at Gaza soon\\ However, even if indeed this will be decided to a large extent the damage caused to Israel deterrence and to the Negev residents feeling of security is already irreversible.
