Stephen E. Philpott has been elected to the Board of Directors of H.L. Staebler Co. Ltd. effective March 1, 1991.
Annual juried art exhibition slated this summer
This year, the Gallery Committee will also be honouring one artist with a special award in memory of Diana E. Philpott, who passed away suddenly in June. Philpott was a well known and successful artist who exhibited her work broadly and won numerous awards. She was a member of the Neilson Park Creative Centre and the Gallery Commitee, and was elected to the Society of Canadian Artists and the OSA.

Surviving are daughters, Kathy M. Hunt, Plant City, Fla., and Laurie A. Cuddy, [DWIGHT]; sons, Dennis L. (Michelle) Cuddy, Cabery, and Rick E. (Pam) Cuddy, Essex; sister, Mildred Doran, Dwight; seven grandchildren, Kiedra (Craig) Meece, Ryan (Dennis) Burdick, Shane (Shawna) Cuddy, Christopher (Val) Cuddy, Crystal (Tracey) Bowman, Bobby (Emily) Cuddy and Michael Cuddy; six great-grandchildren, Colin Meece, Lacey Norwood, Layne Cuddy, Blake Norwood, Lance Cuddy and Shelby Bowman. Lois graduated at the top of her class from the Mennonite School of Nursing in 1940. She worked as a registered nurse for 40 years and volunteered in the alumni association for another six years. Lois was the nurse who never failed to show quiet in-charge leadership whenever the situation required it. No task was beneath her or beyond her. Lois concurrently worked as a nurse at the Gailey Eye Clinic in Bloomington and was a private nurse for Dr. Gailey during his illness. In 1984 Lois was given the Outstanding Alumni Award from Mennonite. In 1940 Lois married Edward C. Butler, who died in 1954. They had three children, [Lucinda Wilson] (S. Allen) Dohan of Cincinnati, Ohio, William (Nancy) Butler of Evergreen, Colo., and Lois Ann (Gregg) Gloor of Alexandria, Va. In 1956 Kenneth E. Baker married Lois. Kenneth passed away in 1983. Kenneth's daughter is Kathryn (Douglas) Kirk of Madison, Wis. In 1987 Lois married Leslie Philpott, who preceded her in death in 2000. Lois is survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

[Doris Diemer] was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Pontiac, a daughter of Harold F. and Minola M. Johnson Weber. She married Robert E. Diemer on Dec. 31, 1943, in St. Petersburg, Fla. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1999. Survivors include two sons, James R. ([Barbara June Phelps]) Diemer, Bloomington, and Todd C. Diemer, Pontiac; one daughter, Diane M. (Tim) Fairchild, Champaign; four grandchildren, David (Tracey) Fairchild, The Colony, Texas; Kate Fairchild, Chicago; Brian Diemer, Denver; and Robert Diemer, Metamora; and one great-grandchild, Dawson Fairchild, The Colony, Texas. Also surviving are two sisters, Marian Hanifer, Iowa, and Arlene Mabis, Pontiac. Doris was preceded in death by one son, Gary B. Diemer. Mrs. Drennan leaves one son, Allen Drennan of Bloomington; two daughters, Laura Drennan of Rochester and Janet (Gary) Gamberdine of Woodridge; one brother, Duane (Melinda) White of Neoga; one sister, [Evelyn Herring] ([William Krueger]) Alexander of Neoga; three grandchildren, Christopher (Katie) Drennan of Plainfield, Kyle Drennan of London, England, and Elizabeth Drennan of Bloomington; and one great-grandson, Carter Drennan of Plainfield. Mrs. Drennan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde; one brother, Robert F. \"Bud\" White; and one daughter-in-law, Sandra Drennan.
