A World of Possibilities
2019
The following pages explore the views held by an intriguing non-professional writer, put forth in a treatise unlike any of its day or subsequent years. My goal is to make clear the value of his remarks to the study of Native American origins, observations presented in a work long neglected by the scholarly world. The individual in question is Carlos Prince(1836–1919), and the analysis is Origen de los indios de América (1915).1 As will be seen, his ideas are rooted in those of a great many authorities, salient among them two whose outlooks are diametrically opposed: Father Gregorio García (1556/1561–1627) and Isaac de la Peyrère (1594–1676).
