Although the problems in early childhood music education (ECME) have been addressed in many scientific studies around the world, the fact that the problem is still among the issues for which solutions are still sought in current studies suggests that a permanent solution has not yet been found. The main purpose of this study, which is designed as a qualitative case study, is to propose a master's degree program that is believed to be a solution to the current problems in the field of early childhood music education (ECME) in Turkey. In line with that, a master's program proposal for ECME specialization education was developed in line with the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (THEQF), existing information in national and international literature, and participant opinions. The proposed program is based on Bandura's self-efficacy theory, aiming to improve the performance of early childhood instructors with limited experience in teaching music. The participants of the study were determined by purposeful and snowball sampling method. The study group consisted of 24 participants, including 14 academicians who teach courses on ECME in faculties of education and health sciences and conduct postgraduate studies in this field, and 10 music teachers who teach music in private schools. The data were obtained through literature review and the interviews with the participants and reported in various categories and subcategories using descriptive and content analysis in line with the sub-objectives of the research. The analysis was focused on the evaluations of the participants about the course structure, content and interdisciplinary interactional potential of the proposed master's program. The findings have paved the way for the creation of a draft master's program within the scope of the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework. As a result of the research, 43 general competencies and 43 field competencies were determined for the proposed master's program in the dimensions of knowledge, skills and competence at the master's level in line with the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (THEQF). In addition, the courses to be included in the program and their contents, the disciplines that the ECME specialist can interact with, and the opinions/suggestions of the instructors and music teachers about the proposed master's program were explained in detail. This study, which also aims to strengthen the professional competencies of ECME specialists and provide a reference point in the formation of music education programs in the future, is thought to improve the quality of experts in the field of ECME and to provide a guideline for prospective music education programs. In addition, the study is expected to contribute significantly to the instructors from different disciplines in terms of providing a solution for ECME specialization and creating a new field of specialization. Erken çocukluk müzik eğitimi (EÇME) konusundaki sorunlar, dünya genelinde yapılan birçok bilimsel çalışmada ele alınmış olmasına rağmen, sorunun güncel çalışmalarda hala çözüm aranan konular arasında olması bu sorunlara kalıcı bir çözüm önerisinin henüz bulunamadığını düşündürmektedir. Nitel araştırma ve durum çalışması yaklaşımıyla yapılandırılan bu araştırmanın amacı; Türkiye'de EÇME alanındaki mevcut problemlere çözüm olabileceğine inanılan bir yüksek lisans programı önermektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Türkiye Yükseköğretim Yeterlikler Çerçevesi (TYÇÇ), ulusal ve uluslararası alanyazındaki mevcut bilgiler ve katılımcı görüşleri doğrultusunda EÇME uzmanlık eğitimi için bir yüksek lisans programı önerisi geliştirilmiştir. Önerilen programın temeli, müzik alanında sınırlı deneyime sahip olan erken çocukluk eğitimcilerinin performansını geliştirme amacıyla Bandura'nın öz-yeterlilik teorisine dayanmaktadır. Araştırmanın katılımcıları, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemi ve kartopu örneklemesiyle belirlenmiştir. Çalışma grubu; eğitim ve sağlık bilimleri fakültelerinde EÇME’ ye yönelik dersleri yürüten ve bu alanda lisansüstü çalışmalar yapan 14 akademisyen ile özel okullarda müzik dersleri veren 10 müzik öğretmeni olmak üzere 24 katılımcıdan oluşmaktadır. Veriler alanyazın taraması ve katılımcılarla yapılan görüşmeler aracılığıyla elde edilmiş, betimsel ve içerik analiz yaklaşımı kullanılarak çeşitli kategori ve alt kategorilerde araştırmanın alt amaçları doğrultusunda raporlaştırılmıştır. Katılımcıların, önerilen yüksek lisans programının ders yapısı, içeriği ve disiplinlerarası etkileşim potansiyeli hakkında sundukları değerlendirmeler esas alınmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular, TYYÇ kapsamında bir yüksek lisans programı taslağının oluşturulmasına zemin hazırlamıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; önerilen yüksek lisans programı için TYÇÇ doğrultusunda yüksek lisans düzeyinde bilgi, beceri ve yetkinlik boyutunda, 43 genel yeterlik ve 43 tane de alan yeterliği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, programda yer alacak dersler ve içerikleri, EÇME uzmanının etkileşim kurabileceği disiplinler, önerilen yüksek lisans programı ile ilgili öğretim elemanları ve müzik öğretmenlerinin düşünce / önerileri açıklanmıştır. EÇME uzmanlarının mesleki yeterliklerini güçlendirme ve ilerleyen dönemlerdeki müzik eğitimi programlarının oluşturulmasında bir referans noktası sağlama amacı da taşıyan bu çalışmanın, EÇME alanında uzmanların kalitesini yükselteceği ve gelecekteki müzik eğitimi programları için bir rehber olacağı düşünülmektedir. Ayrıca, farklı disiplinlerden gelen eğitimcilere EÇME uzmanlığına yönelik bir çözüm yolu sunması ve yeni bir uzmanlık alanı oluşturması açısından da önemli bir katkı sağlaması beklenmektedir.

Desarrollo y validación de un programa de entrenamiento físico para mujeres diagnosticadas de fibromialgia \Pessoas com Fibra\ (Personas con Fibra)

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease that affects patients’ quality of life, leading to reduced physical activity levels. This problem can therefore be attenuated by promoting physical exercise training programs (PETP). The aim of this pilot study was to develop and validate a PETP, “Pessoas com Fibra”, designed to increase physical activity and improve the quality of life of women diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, aged between 30 and 60. The PETP was designed and validated by physical fitness specialists in accordance with Revised Guidelines for Reporting Criteria on the Development and Evaluation of Complex Health Interventions and the Consensus Guidelines on Physical Exercise Programme Reporting Model. It went through three phases: development, piloting and evaluation. This study presents an intervention proposal based on improving the participants' Fibromyalgia symptoms. “Pessoas com Fibra” program proposal presents suggestions for adaptation to the target population and exercises that can be replicated by professionals in the field of physical exercise and health.

8033 PED-TV: making every contact count. A quality improvement project transforming our paediatric emergency department waiting room into an educational experience

Why did you do this work?The aim of our quality improvement project was to identify and implement digital resources into the Paediatric Emergency Department (PED) to transform patient and carers’ waits into an educational opportunity. Annually, over 50,000 patients visit the PED, alongside their parents, carers, siblings and more. Waiting times average 30-121 minutes, providing a captive audience for a proactive approach to health and wellbeing education for our patients and families.What did you do?Patients (aged 8 years and above), carers and staff were surveyed to assess reception of our project proposal and suggested topics for learning.We approached local and national recognised organisations for consent to display their resources and a team of PED leadership assessed each video for suitability and impact.Following this, we collaborated with the trust media team to curate a 42-minute playlist, titled ‘PED-TV,’ and launched during ‘Child Safety Week in June 2024.’A post-playlist questionnaire was disseminated to measure impact. Patients, their carers, and families were invited to feedback on their experience.What did you find?Pre-pilot responses (18) demonstrated a 100% positive response to streaming educational videos in the waiting area. Results indicated high interest in topics like dental hygiene (100%), vaccine advice (100%), and burn management (94.4%).Since its launch, 15,152 patients have passed through our pilot waiting area where the playlist is shown, alongside at least the same number of carers and family members.Post-pilot surveys indicate high patient satisfaction (83%) with the project and a measurable immediate impact on patient and carer knowledge. For example, understanding of safe sleeping habits for babies increased from 3.5/5.0 (prior to watching the educational videos) to 4.55/5.0 (after watching the educational videos). Responses also indicated a demonstrable increase in confidence levels regarding managing infant crying, with self-reported confidence rising from 3.09/5.0 (before watching the videos) to 4.0/5.0 (after watching the videos). Understanding of dangers of button batteries increased from 2.82/5.0 to 3.56/5.0.What does it mean?Our pilot is demonstrating high patient and family satisfaction and support for this project. Results also indicate a direct impact on patient and carer knowledge of important child health topics.The project has not cost any money, utilising free resources and existing waiting room spaces and screens. There is potential to even save money, through a reduction in preventable injuries and illnesses, and subsequent emergency attendances and hospital admissions.Next steps include expanding this pilot across all Paediatric waiting areas across the trust, to standardise access to this educational experience. We are also widening access to Manchester’s diverse population by delivering content in multiple languages and making content available digitally.By taking a proactive role in educating our local population through our waiting room, the potential impact on the overall health of our community is immense.

981 REACH – setting up a new trainee-led research network

AimsBackgroundThe involvement of trainees in research in paediatrics is dependent on individual enthusiasm and access to appropriate opportunities and support. These are affected by the frequency of rotations, the demands of busy paediatric training jobs and a lack of guidance on how to get involved. The relatively new RCPCH academic tool-kit goes some way to providing support and guidance and the college’s Trainee Research Network initiative aims to support existing trainee research networks and facilitate collaborative working regionally and nationally. Trainee ownership and leadership of collaborative multi-centre governance and research projects provides trainees with research skills mandated by the RCPCH Progress curriculum and as well as opportunities for peer networking and steering of research priorities.Whilst over the past 5 years several trainee-led research networks have been set up, there are gaps across the country. Arguably, the most successful are those focussing on sub-specialty projects with General Paediatrics falling behind.ObjectivesWe set out to establish a pan-London, trainee-led network that exists to support the conception and coordination of multi-centre research, audit and service evaluation projects to answer relevant general paediatric clinical questions. Additionally, this initiative provides opportunities for trainees to develop research competencies.MethodsFounding trainees sought experiences of existing trainee network organisations active in research and clinical governance. Subsequently, a working group was assembled by promotion on social media and through the regional trainee network. A group of 16 interested trainees from ST1 through to ST8 was formed and initial meetings were held monthly in May-Dec 2021.The working group divided in to 3 key smaller subgroups;1. Guidance documents & first project development2. IT & communications3. Trust network set-upThe group was overseen by a set of co-chairs ranging from ST4-ST8 and senior consultant support.ResultsThe working group set to work on the 3 main workstreams and developed an initial set of resources which included;1. Guidance documents & first project development:- Constitution- Project proposal form- Standard operating procedure guidance for projects2. IT & communications:- Branding including network name and logo- Social media presence- Website1 and dedicated email addressNewsletter outline and mailing list template3. Trust network set-up:- Review of regions and hospitals with collation of potential local stakeholders and consultants leads- Plan for recruitment of interested trust leadsIn parallel the working group conducted successive brainstorming exercises of potential first projects, taking into account the outputs of other trainee networks, feasibility and current views on research priorities. Additionally, in recognition of the need to hear parent and patient as well as pan-region trainee voices, links to patient and public involvement (PPI) organisations are being established and a priority setting exercise is planned for 2023. A central committee was formed in December 2022.ConclusionThe London REACH – Research, Evaluation and Audit for Child Health – network collaborative established its central committee, core guidance documents and communication infrastructure. Ambivalence and Living Apart Together in Later Life: A Critical Research Proposal

Most unattached older persons who would like an intimate partnership do not want to remarry or be in a marriage-like relationship. A growing trend is to live apart together (LAT) in an ongoing intimate relationship that does not include a common home. We address the debate about whether LAT constitutes a new form of intimate relationship in a critical assessment of research on LAT relationships that applies ambivalence and concepts from the life course perspective. We conclude that among older but not younger adults, LAT relationships are generally a stable alternative to living with a partner, negotiated in the context of current social institutions and arrangements. We propose research questions that address later life living apart together as an innovative alternative intimate relationship. We encourage comparative work on the unique challenges of later life living apart together, their implications for other family ties, and their connection to social and cultural arrangements.

This paper describes the process by which the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) and its Youth Council-a body of youth with lived experience in the child welfare system-conceptualized, developed, and evaluated a peer mentoring program, EnlightenMENT. Additionally, through in-depth interviews with peer mentors themselves, themes emerged highlighting the experiences of peer mentors working in EnlightenMENT: (a) motivations for mentoring, (b) perceived benefits of mentoring, and (c) perceived challenges of mentoring.

Dual-degree MD-PhD programs have historically lacked diversity of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and other facets of identity. Like MD- and PhD-granting programs, MD-PhD program training environments are also marked by structural barriers that negatively impact measurable academic outcomes of underrepresented and/or marginalized students in academic medicine (racial and ethnic minority groups considered underrepresented by the National Institute of Health, sexual and gender minorities, individuals with disabilities, and individuals of low socioeconomic status). In this article, we review the existing literature on MD-PhD program disparities affecting students from these groups and provide recommendations grounded on the reviewed evidence. Our literature review identified four generalizable barriers that can impact the training outcomes of students from these marginalized and/or underrepresented groups: 1) discrimination and bias, 2) impostor syndrome and stereotype threat, 3) lack of identity-similar mentors, and 4) suboptimal institutional policies and procedures. We propose goal-oriented interventions that may begin to ameliorate the disparities present in MD-PhD program training environments that affect students from marginalized and/or underrepresented groups in academic medicine.

A comprehensive bibliometric analysis of small-sided games in soccer: 20 years (2003–2023) of scientific exploration

Introduction. Soccer as a sport has undergone thorough examination across various fields of knowledge. Notably, the exploration of small-sided games has emerged as a prominent and captivating subject of study, garnering increased attention in contemporary scientific discourse. Objective. The aim of this study was to conduct a bibliometric study on the scientific output pertaining to small-sided games in soccer from 2003 to 2023. This examination was carried out by evaluating the comprehensive dataset available in the Scopus database. Methodology. The descriptive bibliometric analysis of scientific production considered various key indicators for each document, encompassing: 1) database source; 2) document type; 3) publication year; 4) author names; 5) knowledge domain; 6) journal names; 7) journal country; 8) publication count; 9) quartile ranking; 10) Index; 11) SCI index; 12) citations; 13) average citations per article; 14) documents per institutional affiliation; 15) documents per country/territory; and 16) document count per language. To perform this comprehensive analysis, MeSH terms such as \"Soccer\" and \"Small sided games\" were employed in the search utilizing the query (\"Small AND Sided AND Games AND Soccer\"). The search yielded a total of 714 documents. Employing the VOSviewer program, co-occurrence maps were generated to visualize keyword relationship and co-authorship-patterns within the dataset. Results. The findings indicate that the predominant form of output is research articles (91.0%), followed by review articles (5.7%). Examining the publication timeline revealed a consistent upward trend in scientific output since 2011 peaking in 2022 with 196 documents. Leading contributors to this body of work include Clemente, F.M. (10.084%), Praca. G.M. (5.462%) and Goncalves, B. (4.902%). In terms of subject areas, the majority of production is concentrated in Medicine (73.94%) and Health Professions (69.88%). Key journals driving publication and impact include the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research (64 papers, 3374 citations), Journal of Human Kinetics (37 papers, 1066 citations), and the Journal of Sports Sciences (34 papers, 2795 citations). These journals fall within the QI quartile in terms of citations. The Centro de Investigacao em Desporto, Saude e Desenvolvimento Humano emerged as the leading institution contributing 10.92% of the research with an impressive 78 papers. Notably, English overwhelmingly dominates the language landscape, encompassing 95.09% of the scientific production. Conclusions. Small-Sided Games have become instrumental in exploring diverse adaptations related to the technical-tactical, physical, and physiological demands of soccer, highlighting that the number of studies has been increasing over the years, sports science stands out as a pivotal driver, playing a crucial role in shaping the design and planning processes for sports preparation across various levels and categories in soccer.

Document Analysis as a Qualitative Research Method

This article examines the function of documents as a data source in qualitative research and discusses document analysis procedure in the context of actual research experiences. Targeted to research novices, the article takes a nuts-and-bolts approach to document analysis. It describes the nature and forms of documents, outlines the advantages and limitations of document analysis, and offers specific examples of the use of documents in the research process. The application of document analysis to a grounded theory study is illustrated.
