English National Identity and Football Fan Culture
In recent years, scholars have understood the increasing use of the St George's Cross by football fans to be evidence of a rise in a specifically 'English' identity. This has emerged as part of a wider 'national' response to broader political processes such as devolution and European integration which have fragmented identities within the UK. Using the controversial figurational sociological approach advocated by the twentieth-century theorist Norbert Elias, this book challenges such a view, drawing on ethnographic research amongst fans to explore the precise nature of the relationship between contemporary English national identity and football fan culture. Examining football fans' expressions of Englishness in public houses and online spaces, the author discusses the effects of globalization, European integration and UK devolution on English society, revealing that the use of the St George's Cross does not signal the emergence of a specifically 'English' national consciousness, but in fact masks a more complex, multi-layered process of national identity construction. A detailed and grounded study of identity, nationalism and globalization amongst football fans, English National Identity and Football Fan Culture will appeal to scholars and students of politics, sociology and anthropology with interests in ethnography, the sociology of sport, fan cultures, globalization and contemporary national identities.
Changes in recreational behaviors of outdoor enthusiasts during the COVID-19 pandemic: analysis across urban and rural communities
The COVID-19 pandemic presents not only a global health crisis but has also disrupted the daily lives of people around the world. From a leisure perspective, urban outdoor enthusiasts are one group particularly impacted by the pandemic and the subsequent institutional response. Stay-at-home orders and physical distancing recommendations serve as potential inhibitors to outdoor recreation activities central to the lifestyles and wellbeing of outdoor enthusiasts. In urban areas, where these orders and recommendations are most restrictive, the potential impacts on recreation behavior are most consequential. This study provides an empirical analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the recreational behaviors of outdoor enthusiasts across urban and rural communities. Results suggest that the frequency of outdoor recreation participation, distance travelled to participate in outdoor recreation and distance travelled beyond roads during outdoor recreation have declined significantly more among outdoor enthusiasts residing in urban areas than urban clusters or rural areas.

Employees Behavioural Intentions Towards the Use of Artificial Intelligence on Sustainable Tourism
The increased competition and need to provide sustainable tourism in tourism organisations has resulted in a rapid growth of the application of Artificial Intelligence. The study aimed to find employees' behavioural intentions about the usage of Artificial Intelligence in sustainable tourism. This study is essential in assessing in what way employees perceive the deployment of Artificial Intelligence in the work environment in South African cities. The research is based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, Diffusion of Innovation Theory, and the Theory of Planned Behaviour. The research's empirical goals aimed to assess the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology perceptions on user and technology acceptability among employees in sustainable tourism businesses. Also, to determine the Diffusion of Innovation Theory on the structure of innovation use and discover acceptance patterns to foresee how individuals choose which innovations to implement. Finally, the Theory of Planned Behaviour investigated employee interest-based behaviour in terms of aim, activity, context, and time period while implementing Artificial Intelligence technologies. Data was collected from 353 participants whose tourism organisations have applied Artificial Intelligence. The Statistical Package for Social Science was utilised in the research to organise the information that was gathered. The findings of a descriptive analysis of behavioural intentions revealed that employees are optimistic about the application of Artificial Intelligence over future career growth and expect to utilise it more frequently at work. The relation of behavioural intentions and action was established utilising the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling technique. The Structural Equation Modelling evaluation found that behavioural intentions and use (β=0.906, p<0.001) have a substantial favourable effect on employees' adoption of Artificial Intelligence. The analysis yielded substantial outcomes that are dependable amid the theoretical foundations and examination on the topic. The findings point to a path for the deployment of Artificial Intelligence technologies in tourism businesses, with individuals as well as organisations focussing on achieving a balance between organisational training and enhanced skills. The study outcome serves as a guide for tourism organisations, to determine strategic decisions about the deployment of Artificial Intelligence technology in the workplace to achieve sustainability.
