On New Generalized Differentials with Respect to a Set and Their Applications
The notions and certain fundamental characteristics of the proximal and limiting normal cones with respect to a set are first presented in this paper. We present the ideas of the limiting coderivative and subdifferential with respect to a set of multifunctions and singleton mappings, respectively, based on these normal cones. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the Aubin property with respect to a set of multifunctions are then described by using the limiting coderivative with respect to a set. As a result of the limiting subdifferential with respect to a set, we offer the requisite optimality criteria for local solutions to optimization problems. In addition, we also provide examples to demonstrate the outcomes.

Getting Respect from a Boss You Respect: How Different Types of Respect Interact to Explain Subordinates' Job Satisfaction as Mediated by Self-Determination
Interpersonal respect can be differentiated into two kinds: (1) horizontal respect, i.e. treating someone with dignity; and (2) vertical respect, i.e. genuinely honoring someone's merits. With the present research, we draw on motivation theory to explore their interplay in leadership relations. Specifically, we argue for a moderated mediation hypothesis in that (a) leaders' horizontal respect for their subordinates fundamentally speaks to subordinates' self-determination and (b) that the message of respectful leadership is enhanced by the vertical respect subordinates have for their leaders. As a result, subordinates are more satisfied with their jobs, which should also show in a decreased willingness to leave. The proposed model was supported in two survey studies (N = 391 and N = 518) and an experimental scenario study (N = 107)—thus suggesting that perceived leader behavior needs to be complemented by leader standing.

From Equality-Based Respect to Environmental Activism: Antecedents and Consequences of Global Identity
Global identity reflects social identification with the world and the largest, most inclusive human ingroup and is generally associated with behavior that serves the world and all humans, such as transnational cooperation or proenvironmental engagement. While the outcomes of being globally identified are well-established, the antecedents of global identity are only partially explored. Drawing from research suggesting that respect fosters identification in small groups, we argue that the general experience of being respected as an equal by others increases global identification. In an online study with 469 Germans (students and nonstudents), we tested the relation between equality-based respect and global identification in a structural equation model, with proenvironmental intentions and donation behavior as outcome variables. As expected, equality-based respect, but not other forms of social recognition (need-based care and achievement-based social esteem), predicted global identity while higher global identity, in turn, predicted proenvironmental activism. These effects were substantial beyond known predictors of proenvironmental behavior and thus suggest that equality-based respect represents an important facet of responses to global challenges.
