Crystal meth is a hard drug to break away from
2005
[Jas Johal]: These stories are usually heard from big city addicts, but meth addiction has increasingly moved to small-town Canada. Maple Ridge, located 45 minutes outside of Vancouver, was inundated with crystal meth two years ago. JOHAL: [MARY ROBSON] quickly realized to make crystal meth required ingredients that could be found at any hardware store. She convinced local retailers to start a meth watch program to keep an eye on repeat buying of key ingredients, including asking for identification. This led to a 30 percent drop in meth use in Maple Ridge. It's a program that will soon be introduced province wide. BC's top cop wants the feds to make it a national law.
