Die eigene Betrofenheit richtig universalisieren
2024

Former CDC directors and senator call for RFK Jr to resign
2025
Nine former directors of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Senator Bernie Sanders have called on Robert F Kennedy Jr to resign as US health secretary, calling his views a danger to the health of Americans.12 On 27 August CDC director Susan Monarez was forced out after reportedly refusing to support Kennedy’s vaccine policy and to fire CDC staff members. Asked to comment, a spokesperson for the US Department of Health and Human Services directed The BMJ to Kennedy’s Wall Street Journal article published on 2 September.45 In it, Kennedy reiterated that “over the decades, bureaucratic inertia, politicized science and mission creep have corroded [the CDC’s purpose as a guardian of health] and squandered public trust. Several of the appointees have expressed views sceptical of vaccines.9 Paul Offit, a paediatrician who has clashed with Kennedy over vaccination, is one of 12 experts who have been told they can no longer participate in US Food and Drug Administration advisory panels.10 A Department of Health and Human Services spokesman told the Washington Post that their terms as special government employees expired and declined to identify the other members or committees.

Populism, authoritarianism and constitutionalism
2019
The paper deals with the relationship of different types of populism with authoritarianism and constitutionalism. In the first part, I try to define various approaches—Left and Right-Wing, “good” or “bad”—to populism, especially from the point of view of whether they aim at changing the liberal democratic constitutional system to an authoritarian one. The following part discusses the rhetoric of authoritarian populists, which makes this type of populism distinct from non-populist authoritarians. The paper also explores the question of whom to blame for the success of authoritarian populisms, and the final part investigates, whether the use of legal tools by an authoritarian populist to dismantle liberal constitutional democracies means that we can speak about a special populist constitutionalism. While the paper tries to find out the joint characteristics of authoritarian populism, it heavily relies on the Hungarian experiences as a kind of model approach in East-Central Europe and maybe even beyond.
