A Text Mining using Web Scraping for Meaningful Insights
This research involves the usage of Machine Learning technology and Natural Language Processing (NLP) along with the Natural Language Tool-Kit (NLTK). This helps develop a logical Text Summarization tool, which uses the Extractive approach to generate an accurate and a fluent summary. The aim of this tool is to efficiently extract a concise and a coherent version, having only the main needed outline points from the long text or the input document avoiding any type of repetitions of the same text or information that has already been mentioned earlier in the text. The text to be summarized can be inherited from the web using the process of web scraping or entering the textual data manually on the platform i.e., the tool. The summarization process can be quite beneficial for the users as these long texts, needs to be shortened to help them to refer to the input quickly and understand points that might be out of their scope to understand.
Layered Structural PBAT Composite Foams for Efficient Electromagnetic Interference Shielding
HighlightsA layered segregated shielding network was organized in porous PBAT/Fe3O4@MWCNTs/Ag composite by scCO2 foaming and scraping techniques. The composite foam achieved an electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) of up to 68.0 dB and a reflectivity of as low as 23% due to the “absorption-reflection-re-absorption” shielding mechanism. The solid and foamed PBAT/Fe3O4@MWCNTs/Ag composites displayed superior retention (> 92%) of EMI SE even after peeling experiment of 500 times under 100 g weight pressure. The utilization of eco-friendly, lightweight, high-efficiency and high-absorbing electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composites is imperative in light of the worldwide promotion of sustainable manufacturing. In this work, magnetic poly (butyleneadipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) microspheres were firstly synthesized via phase separation method, then PBAT composite foams with layered structure was constructed through the supercritical carbon dioxide foaming and scraping techniques. The merits of integrating ferroferric oxide-loaded multi-walled carbon nanotubes (Fe3O4@MWCNTs) nanoparticles, a microcellular framework, and a highly conductive silver layer have been judiciously orchestrated within this distinctive layered configuration. Microwaves are consumed throughout the process of “absorption-reflection-reabsorption” as much as possible, which greatly declines the secondary radiation pollution. The biodegradable PBAT composite foams achieved an EMI shielding effectiveness of up to 68 dB and an absorptivity of 77%, and authenticated favorable stabilization after the tape adhesion experiment.
Scraping social media data for disaster communication: how the pattern of Twitter users affects disasters in Asia and the Pacific
Communication channels play a crucial role in times of crisis, especially during disasters. Social media have become substantial means of communication, playing coextensive roles to those of traditional media. Social media present a communication format that can operate not only within areas directly affected by a disaster but also throughout the rest of the world. Twitter has proven to be an important social media platform for providing services and information conveyed by credible organizations in times of crisis when other means of communication become inaccessible. This study focuses on the different uses of Twitter during disasters in Asia and the Pacific in 2014 and 2015. The purpose of this study is to show the pattern of use of Twitter to send warnings and identify crucial needs and responses. This study is based on the premise that Twitter has considerable potential as a communication channel during disasters given its advantages and high compatibility with rapid information dissemination. We gather tweets by scraping https://twitter.com/search-advanced results using the Application Programming Interface of Twitter. The scraping process is conducted with the Python Tweepy library. Data are classified based on a social media framework, geographical area, and user type. We find that the pattern of Twitter users plays a crucial role in raising awareness as well as coordinating relief efforts during disasters. Various types of users utilize Twitter in ways that are consistent with its traditional role. News organizations participate in secondhand reporting, and nongovernment organizations and celebrities are committed to relief coordination. Results cast light on not only how various types of users utilize Twitter in times of disaster but also on how a number of potential Twitter users are absent during disasters. Twitter use for relief coordination occurs understandably in the aftermath of a disaster, but the speed and reach of Twitter make it an ideal platform for disaster preparedness coordination and planning.
Wooden tools and fire technology in the early Neanderthal site of Poggetti Vecchi (Italy)
Excavations for the construction of thermal pools at Poggetti Vecchi (Grosseto, Tuscany, central Italy) exposed a series of wooden tools in an open-air stratified site referable to late Middle Pleistocene. The wooden artifacts were uncovered, together with stone tools and fossil bones, largely belonging to the straight-tusked elephant Paleoloxodon antiquus. The site is radiometrically dated to around 171,000 y B.P., and hence correlated with the early marine isotope stage 6 [Benvenuti M, et al. (2017) Quat Res 88:327–344]. The sticks, all fragmentary, are made from boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) and were over 1 m long, rounded at one end and pointed at the other. They have been partially charred, possibly to lessen the labor of scraping boxwood, using a technique so far not documented at the time. The wooden artifacts have the size and features of multipurpose tools known as “digging sticks,” which are quite commonly used by foragers. This discovery from Poggetti Vecchi provides evidence of the processing and use of wood by early Neanderthals, showing their ability to use fire in tool making from very tough wood.
Feature extraction of scraping noise of the car seat electric track based on sparse representation
With the development of the science and technology, the demanding of convenience and comfort when driving a car are getting higher and higher. As an important part that has a great influence on the comfort of the car driving, the car seat is also developing towards the electric direction. The electric seat is becoming the choice of more and more manufacture of automobile. However, the product quality inspection of the electric track of the car seat is still in a relatively preliminary stage. At present, the detection of the unqualified track product is mainly performed by workers listening in an anechoic room. This will lead to the high cost of construction of the anechoic chamber, low quality inspection efficiency, and instability by different quality inspection personnel. In this paper, we focus on the scraping noise detection of the electric track product, as scraping noise is the main cause of the product disqualification. Since scraping noise often features a higher energy in the high frequency band, we adopt the Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT) to acquire the total energy at different time duration. Then we model the acquired time series as summation of one sparse signal, one low-passing signal, and one noise signal. Based on the property of the three parts, the objective function is established and solved with Majorization-Minimization (MM) approach. The effectiveness of the proposed scraping detection method is verified with the real track vibration signal, and the superiority of the proposed method is verified via the comparison with other impulse detection method.
An Investigation on the Ground Impact of Electric Vehicle
Ground impact caused by road debris can result in very severe fire accidents of Electric Vehicles (EVs). To improve the mechanical safety of EVs, the test and verification conditions of Bottom scraping and Bottom supporting for ground impact safety of EVs are formulated through market safety accident investigation. Moreover, the assessment method and verification equipment are developed to satisfy the consumer’s demands. The investigations of ground impact show that whether the battery pack is at the lowest point has a great impact on the safety under the Bottom scraping condition, while the material of the Bottom guard plate has a great impact on the safety under the Bottom supporting test condition. Finally, 11 EVs are tested to evaluate the safety performance against ground impact by the scoring rule of multiple indicators. The results provide important guidance for the safety design of the ground impact of EVs.
Research on a relay-type plug for casing embedment and associated tools
With the continuous advancement of deep shale oil and gas exploration and development, the number of horizontal wells with extended horizontal sections is steadily increasing. During cementing operations, conventional cement plugs are prone to wear during displacement procedures, resulting in incomplete shapes. Based on this, a relay-type plug is proposed, primarily comprising a top plug, a bottom plug, a pre-embedded joint, and a self-locking base. Achieving division of labour and segmented casing scraping through the use of a relay-type plug, the scraping effectiveness and displacement efficiency are enhanced. It incorporates anti-rotation and self-locking capabilities, withstanding 70 MPa pressure in the forward direction and 50 MPa pressure in the reverse direction. When self-locked, it achieves sealing and functions as a floating collar, preventing cement slurry backflow. Relay-type plugs offer novel approaches and concepts for cementing operations in long horizontal wells, presenting broad application prospects.
Design and experimental research of a novel automatic scraping machine
Scraping is a key technology in high-precision machine tool machining. Scraping can eliminate the accumulated error and improve the assembly accuracy of machine tools. Scraping is time-consuming and tedious manual labor, which is usually conducted by skillful scraping workers. To overcome these shortcomings, a novel automatic scraping machine has been designed and tested in this study. The machine includes a 3-axis motion mechanism, a visual recognition system, a 3-D measurement system, and a control system. In this study, a ball-end milling cutter is used to follow a planned path at high speed to simulate the shape of scraper marks of manual scraping. The proposed measurement system and visual recognition system can quickly acquire the information required for automatic scraping and send it to the control system. Based on the received information, the control system automatically determines the scraping location and scraping stage and then generates a set of control codes which are sent to the 3-axis motion mechanism for scraping processing. The experimental results show that the quality of the workpieces scraped by this machine is close to that of manual scraping and reaches the standard of a high-precision machine.
