Turf War: The Clinton Administration and Northern Ireland
2007
[...] Timothy Lynch's Turf War clearly points toward its case study of the north of Ireland, while allegorically referring to the attempts by President Bill Clinton's White House (especially the National Security Council [NSC] staff) to increase its influence or control over the State Department's sphere of authority. The Irish-American awareness of human rights violations in Northern Ireland, which eventually encouraged congressional leaders to step forward and call for a change in U.S. foreign policy, was followed by a change in British policy and State Department attitudes.
