TOWN NEWS BRIEFING
[Joseph Shehan] is [Carie Gouldsbrough]'s boyfriend. He was arrested in December after police located the pair in Georgia. Shehan is charged with felony murder, murder and felony robbery. Police said the slaying may have been the result of a family dispute involving Gouldsbrough's and Shehan's 2-year-old daughter. [Lewis A. Wheelock Jr.]'s wife, Betty, had recently been granted temporary custody of the child and was trying to get full custody at the time her husband was slain. According to an arrest affidavit on file in court, Gouldsbrough told police that Lewis Wheelock tried to molest her the night before he was slain and that her boyfriend beat Wheelock after confronting him about it on Nov. 27. Shehan told police that Gouldsbrough was in the bathroom during the beating and was not involved, according to the affidavit.
