Simon, Corey
2005
Corey Simon got the two things he wanted: financial security and an outstanding opportunity to return to the Super Bowl. Simon will probably play left tackle, alongside left end Raheem Brock, who is a former Eagles draft pick and a Temple product. Larry Triplett, who has just one sack in three seasons, had been listed as the starter at left tackle. The Colts are not on the Eagles' schedule, but Simon said he wouldn't mind a reunion with his old teammates in Detroit, site of Super Bowl XL.

2005
By letting [Corey Simon] go, the Eagles sent a clear message they have enough confidence in their remaining defensive tackles. Former starter Hollis Thomas is expected to take Simon's spot, and Darwin Walker is the other starter. Rookie first-round pick Mike Patterson has been impressive in the preseason and quickly is working his way into the rotation. Reserve Sam Rayburn had an outstanding season last year and also will see plenty of action.

The Eagles placed the franchise tag on former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Corey Simon on Thursday. Simon had 24 tackles and 5 1/2 sacks this past season and could become an unrestricted free agent March 2. Philadelphia would have seven days to match any offer made to Simon. Here's a neat Eagles figure to run across: 86.4 It's the Birds in a rush, or more accurately their defense against it
2002
The improvement is surprising, considering the Eagles lost run- stopping defensive tackle Hollis Thomas for the season because of a knee injury suffered early in training camp, and also because they were without defensive tackle Corey Simon for the past two games because of an ankle injury. \"Our guys are tackling well in the secondary,\" Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson said. \"I think [strong safety] Blaine Bishop has been one of the factors. He's been a sound tackler; I don't see him missing tackles. And I think our pursuit's good. A guy like [linebacker] Shawn Barber is making a lot of plays from the backside.\" The Bucs' Michael Pittman, familiar to the Eagles from his years in Arizona, has rushed 90 times for 309 yards. And 6-1, 248-pound fullback Mike Al-stott has rushed 50 times for 208 yards and four touchdowns, including a 126-yard effort last week against Cleveland.
