Navigating borders
2007,2025
Navigating Borders into the Netherlands provides a unique in-depth look at human smuggling processes. Based on biographical interviews with smuggled migrants in the Netherlands, the study reveals considerable differences that exist in smuggling's underlying causes, how journeys evolve, and outcomes of the process. This research from an insider's perspective clearly demonstrates that smuggled migrants are not passive actors, there is a broad variety in types of smugglers, and interactions between migrants and smugglers largely determine how the smuggling process evolves.

This book explores one important aspect of international irregular migration, notably the smuggling of migrants from Asia and Africa into southern European countries. During the last two decades, international migration has intensified both across the East to West and South to North axis, with Europe receiving increasing numbers of migrants from developing countries in Africa and Asia (and also Latin America), and this work examinesthis international movement of people that oftentakes place illegally and involves either unlawful border crossings or overstaying (with or without a visa). The book also discusses how migration control policies in southern European countries may inadvertently shape the migrant smuggling phenomenon and the smuggling 'business'.

\"Ordell \"Whitebread\" Robbie makes a fine living selling illegal high-powered weaponry to the wrong people. Jackie Burke couriers Ordell's profits from Freeport to Miami. But the feds are on to Jackie--and now the aging but still hot flight attendant will have to do prison time or play ball, which makes her a prime \"loose end\" that Ordell needs to tie up permanently. Jackie, however, has other options. And with the help of Max Cherry--an honest but disgruntled bail bondsman looking to get out--she could even end up with a serious nest egg in the process\"--P. 2023
Considering the recent Decision of the Constitutional Court of Romania No 176/2022 by which it was established that the provisions of Article 270 (3) of the Law No 86/2006 on the Romanian Customs Code regarding the offence of assimilated smuggling are unconstitutional, this study aims to analyze whether these facts are still incriminated, in another form, namely the possession or sale of goods outside the fiscal warehouse provided by Article 451 (1) h) of the Law No 227/2015 on the Fiscal Code.
