Energy industry stalwart to celebrate 60th birthday
Tenix Robt Stone, New Zealand's largest engineering company, is continuing to grow its business in the face of a global economic meltdown, reporting almost 20 per cent growth in the past five years. The company is a big player in Taranaki's energy industry.
Jobs safe as Tenix buys Robt Stone
Tenix Alliance chief executive Sean Woellner said the combination of the Kiwi firm's mechanical and steel fabrication capabilities and Tenix Alliance's power water and infrastructure services would create a larger and more diverse business. \"With the addition of [Robt Stone]'s capabilities, Tenix Alliance is strongly positioned to provide project delivery, construction and maintenance work in the New Zealand and Asia Pacific region.\"
Firm keeps lifting performance
Haden & Custance was established in 1965 in Hastings. In 2004, when the company was in serious financial strife, it was purchased by Ian Murray and was brought under the umbrella of the Robt Stone Engineering group. Administration and management of accounts, banking and monitoring of cash flow was provided by Robt Stone. In 2007, Robt Stone was sold to Tennex Alliance, but Ian Murray retained Haden & Custance. These machines are used to remove at speed 20kg blocks of cheese from their cardboard cartons and plastic bag liner following the maturation process and to allow for further processing and packaging. Haden & Custance has become a world leader in this niche market and has this equipment operating in secondary cheese-processing factories in New Zealand, Australia, Scotland, England and the US.

Tuna plant contract a boon for Robt Stone
[Robt Stone] Taranaki area manager Ken Woodward said the next six to eight months would be mayhem for his branch and its 60-odd staff. Robt Stone would deliver the materials to PNG via sea, Mr Woodward said. The company expected the shipments would leave from Auckland rather than from Port Taranaki.
Sale sees engineering companies join forces
Mr [Peter White- Robinson] said he was annoyed that Fitzroy Engineering had recently been the target of rumours about receivership. \"They were based on the wrong foundation, totally. There was no issue of receivership. It was very frustrating.\" From July 31, after the document was finalised, Fitzroy Engineering would carry on as a division of Robt Stone, Mr White- Robinson said. Robt Stone Ltd is owned by Ian Murray, of the Auckland-based Murray Group. Nationally, Robt Stone employed more than 100 staff in New Plymouth, Whangarei and Auckland.
