Film jako zdarzenie
2018
Monografia Topografie i krajobrazy. Książa Copik przedstawia satysfakcjonujący, bo całościowy, oryginalny i inspirujący, a niejednokrotnie poznawczo wyrafinowany obraz filmowego Śląska.

Cutting resistance
2018
The objective of the present study is to analyze and compare the cutting performance of segmented diamond blades when dry-cutting concrete. A cutting criteria is proposed to characterize the wear of the blades by measuring the variation of the external diameter and the weight loss of the blade. The results exhibit the cutting blade SB-A, which has twice the density of diamonds and large contact area, exhibits less wear even though the material removal rate is higher compared with the other two cutting blades. Additionally, the surface topography of the different blades is evaluated to examine the impact of wear depending on the surface profile and the distribution of the diamonds in the blade’s matrix. Large number of diamonds pull-out are found in blades type SB-C, which additionally shows the worst wear resistant capability. As a conclusion, the cutting efficiency of the blade is found to be related to the density of embedded diamonds and the type of the surface profile of the cutting blade after reaching the stop criteria.

Paesaggi delle bonifiche. Formazione e trasformazione del bacino fluviale del Tronto
2023

2015
Prior to the application of any persistent scatterer interferometry (PSI) technique for the monitoring of terrain displacement phenomena, an adequate pixel selection must be carried out in order to prevent the inclusion of noisy pixels in the processing. The rationale is to detect the so-called persistent scatterers, which are characterized by preserving their phase quality along the multi-temporal set of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images available. Two criteria are mainly available for the estimation of pixels’ phase quality, i.e., the coherence stability and the amplitude dispersion or permanent scatterers (PS) approach. The coherence stability method allows an accurate estimation of the phase statistics, even when a reduced number of SAR acquisitions is available. Unfortunately, it requires the multi-looking of data during the coherence estimation, leading to a spatial resolution loss in the final results. In contrast, the PS approach works at full-resolution, but it demands a larger number of SAR images to be reliable, typically more than 20. There is hence a clear limitation when a full-resolution PSI processing is to be carried out and the number of acquisitions available is small. In this context, a novel pixel selection method based on exploiting the spectral properties of point-like scatterers, referred to as temporal sublook coherence (TSC), has been recently proposed. This paper seeks to demonstrate the advantages of employing PSI techniques by means of TSC on both orbital and ground-based SAR (GB-SAR) data when the number of images available is small (10 images in the work presented). The displacement maps retrieved through the proposed technique are compared, in terms of pixel density and phase quality, with traditional criteria. Two X-band datasets composed of 10 sliding spotlight TerraSAR-X images and 10 GB-SAR images, respectively, over the landslide of El Forn de Canillo (Andorran Pyrenees), are employed for this study. For both datasets, the TSC technique has showed an excellent performance compared with traditional techniques, achieving up to a four-fold increase in the number of persistent scatters detected, compared with the coherence stability approach, and a similar density compared with the PS approach, but free of outliers.

2021
The excavations of Città Metropolitana di Roma Capitale in the cellars on the S and W sides of Palazzo Valentini have revealed a series of structures belonging to a large building, whose brick stamps date from the early Hadrianic period. Massive foundation structures and a system of sloping and barrel vaults, linked on the N side to underground rooms covered by cross vaults, allow the authors to reconstruct the podium of a temple lying immediately to the north and in line with Trajan's Forum. This building is presumably the Templum divi Traiani et divae Plotinae, which Hadrian dedicated to his adoptive parents. The remains suggest that it was a peripteral building with an octastyle front on the S side, rising from a high podium accessible through a staircase. Its most distinctive architectural elements are huge gray and red granite column shafts 50 feet high, white marble Corinthian capitals, cornices, a fragment of frieze with the figure of a griffin. In the adjacent area, presumably arranged on the level of the square of Trajan's Forum, the temple was certainly surrounded by a temenos decorated by a protruding colonnade, open to the court of Trajan's Column and probably to the outside.

2021
The discoveries that took place between 2007 and 2010 in piazza Madonna di Loreto highlighted a cross-section of the urban planning prior to the construction of the Forum of Trajan and the completion of the complex with Hadrian, who was responsible for the auditoria. These are defined to the west by the tabernae lined up on the path parallel to the Via Flaminia; to the east by a curved street that influenced the fan-shaped arrangement of the classrooms due to the probable presence of an imposing structure whose semicircular shape seems to refer to an auditorium; to the south is a front found in 1932 which seems to constitute the articulated southern elevation of the complex, overlooking the continuation of the curved street. The front aligns with the orientation of the Forum, with an architectural solution that hides the singular arrangement of classrooms developed within an irregularly shaped space compressed between four road paths: the eastern curved street, the path parallel to the Flaminia to the west, the road overlooked by an insula to the north, the continuation of the road curving to the south.
The building, about 15 meters high, included at least two upper floors. At full capacity, the three classrooms could contain a number of auditores ranging from a minimum of 480 to a maximum of 540.
Numerous considerations prevent the suggestive proposal to identify the building with the Athenaeum built by Hadrian after his return from Palestine in 135, based above all on three passages by Sidonius Apollinaris.

Following the most recent investigations in the area of Trajan's forum, the proposed reconstruction of its plan as codified by Italo Gismondi can no longer be accepted. New confirmations come from further excavations carried out in front of the church of S. Maria di Loreto and in the foundations of Palazzo Valentini. It now seems certain that the main entrance to the forum was to the north, facing the Campus Martius. Here we can probably locate the arch that the Senate dedicated to Trajan for his victories over the Parthians, and which probably served as a monumental entrance to the forum in place of the original propylaeum, demolished together with the northern portico of the court of Trajan's column. The whole area was remodelled during Hadrian's reign, who completed and transformed some of the structures that Trajan had not had time to complete. These include the so-called 'libraries', whose function is still debated, and which, like the two buildings at the entrance to the Divorum in the Campus Martius, in which two temples dedicated to Vespasian and Titus can be recognised, may have been used as temple buildings, although the doubt remains as to whom they were dedicated (to Nerva and Trajan's father? to Trajan and Plotina? to the storage of military standards [aedes signorum]?). In any case, the presence of the Parthian arch makes the hypothesis that on this side was the colossal temple of the divus Traianus with 28 or 30 columns of 50 feet even more uncertain, both because of the limited space available and because of the difficulty of finding so many monolithic columns of similar size. The presence of a templum divi Traiani in the area is not disputed, but it is difficult to imagine that it was of such an imposing size.
