After Brussels, Prime Minister Oumar Tatam Ly arrived in Paris yesterday, where he met today with many personalities including his counterpart, Jean Marc Ayrault. Discussions centred on appropriate efforts underway to stabilize Mali after the political and security crisis. Our special envoys Amadou Sangare and Tiedie Camara report:
Malian president appoints economist prime minister
He is not known to belong to any political party. Actually, from what we have learnt, IBK did not really intend to have a politician as prime minister. \"While he takes care of politics, he assigns the prime minister the task of finding necessary medicine so that Mali can quickly embark on economic take-off once again,\" said an official in [Ibrahim Boubacar Keita]'s Rally for Mali (RPM). The advantage from the president's point of view is that his new prime minister does not have baggage. It is a real asset in the fight against corruption and financial malpractice. Finally, [Oumar Tatam Ly] is much younger than IBK, which is the way to go in succession planning.
