Taylor, Jake
2007
After turning pro in 2004 following his freshman year at Minnesota, [Jake Taylor] sat out 25 games his rookie season mostly because of a broken orbital bone sustained when he was hit by a puck shot by then-coach Ryan McGill in practice. Last season, Taylor sustained a similar injury when he was sucker-punched by Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton's Daniel Carcillo. Then in Game 5 of the first round of the playoffs, Taylor sustained a season-ending broken right clavicle when he was hit by Manchester's Petr Kanko. After a summer of rehabilitation, Taylor reported to Rangers camp in shape and was singled out by coach Tom Renney as someone he wanted to keep an eye on. Taylor played in a Rangers exhibition but didn't make it through the first day of Pack camp Sept. 22. He and Francis Lessard collided, and when Taylor reached the bench, he smashed his stick on the boards.
