Park visitors on the prowl for howls
\"A number of folks in the local community ... have always maintained that there are what would be referred to as 'brush wolves,' and I think that's probably a fairly apt description in terms of what it is we're seeing here,\" he said. \"They're bigger than a coyote (and) have different colouration.\" \"We'll unravel this mystery, talk about coyotes and wolves and their interaction ... and then actually go into the park and do a physical howl,\" he said. \"We're hoping to invite a response from the resident pack of animals.\"
Scenic surroundings sure to inspire
\"(There is) a very strong connection between art and the environment. We wanted to stage a special event which engaged that whole dialogue between art and the environment and bring our local community into Awenda,\" he said, noting many people in Simcoe County don't know much about the park. \"We have so many talented and exceptional artists locally,\" he said. \"We have the opportunity to see some really dynamic and interesting work and people going in many different directions which capture that essence of the spirit of the park.\"
Water hoons warned off
\"The major issues we are targeting are speed and distance rules, unlicensed operators, unregistered vessels and safety equipment, including the new requirement to carry a torch,\" Sen-Sgt Tim Tully of the water police said. Sen-Sgt Tully said recent incidents involving personal watercraft had police concerned. Sen-Sgt Tully said that police were also concerned at how personal watercraft users were affecting other water users, particularly swimmers.
