The role of morphological awareness in L2 postgraduates' academic writing: is vocabulary knowledge a mediating variable?
This research explores the relationship between morphological awareness (MA) and linguistic aspects by examining how MA affects postgraduates' academic writing, particularly in English as a second language (L2), dealing with writing challenges and vocabulary issues. This study investigates the relationship between MA and academic writing and the potential benefits of a morphological awareness intervention for improving writing ability. The study also investigates whether the relationship between MA and writing performance is mediated by vocabulary knowledge. The study included thirty postgraduate students whose writing was evaluated before and after receiving morphological awareness instruction. The findings indicate that vocabulary knowledge acts as a mediator between MA and writing, implying that increases in vocabulary proficiency significantly impacted students' writing skills. As a result of the intervention, the participants' writing abilities significantly improved. These findings highlight the importance of morphological awareness in academic writing, as well as the importance of incorporating focused morphological instruction into writing curricula. The study also calls for more research into the complex relationship between MA, vocabulary proficiency, and writing skills in various populations and contexts. Understanding this interplay can aid in developing more efficient techniques for improving academic writing abilities, particularly for L2 learners who struggle in this area.

A multi-approach formative assessment practice and its potential for enhancing student motivation: a case study
In the present study we investigate one 7 th -grade mathematics teacher's eight-month long implementation of a comprehensive multi-approach formative assessment practice. Based on an analysis of classroom observations, interviews and written teacher logbooks, this classroom practice is described in detail to illustrate how multi-approach formative assessments may be enacted in practice. Furthermore, based on the same data, we identify characteristics of formative assessment practices that have been argued to influence student motivational characteristics that affect motivation manifested as behavioural engagement and autonomous types of motivation. We also demonstrate that while the students in the two control classes (n = 9 in both classes) decreased their engagement in learning activities and became less autonomous in their motivation during this period, the students in the intervention class (n = 14) became more engaged and did not become less autonomous in their motivation.

Learning different language scripts through separation model in a bilingual preschool setting
This study aimed to examine the acquisition of Roman alphabetic script among young children within a bilingual (Arabic and English) educational environment employing a language separation pedagogical approach in Muscat, Oman. Data were collected utilizing participant observations, video recordings to capture the interactions of three children and the instructive practices of the teacher, and teacher interviews, in order to explore the efficacy of this model. The findings of the study indicate that children demonstrate proficiency in script composition in their second language (Roman-English) through engagement in diverse classroom activities, including mathematical and artistic pursuits. Despite prevalent negative perceptions associated with language separation methodologies, our findings suggest its potential effectiveness in facilitating second language acquisition and literacy development. Implications of the study's outcomes are discussed, along with avenues for future research inquiry.
